13"X3" piccolo

or 13"X6.5" similar to joey jordison's power piccolo??

balak ko din yung 12... probelm is.. yung parts ng snare... wala ako makunan ng 12" na snare at hoops na 12" snare side...

ako hand drill at clamp lang. binutasan ko lang yung hoop para malusot yung wire para dun sa acrylic snare ko

seamless daw ba yung acrylic shell? kung oo sali ako, kailangan ko rin ng 10x6

If you want additional power and depth, go for the 6.5" depth.

You also have to ask yourself... In which musical situation/s will you be using this drum? What style/s of music do you play? Which snare drum sound do you need? What are your sound preferences?

sa US ko nabili yung mga snare wires, right now meron pa kong 2 10" snare wires...yung isa ikakabit ko na sa home made shell ko. yung isa naka reserve naman para sa isa pang acrylic 10x6

they mold acrylic to any shape you want (astig!) basta may drawings and diagram ka...

bigay mo lang diagram then estimate nila kung magkano.

long term project ko yung magawa ng kit with acrylic shells from MAC :D

- lagyan mo ng packaging tape muna yung snare wire para hindi gumalaw at maging pantay yung pag cut mo

- cut to desired length, 12" kasi yung target size ko so pinutol ko at about 11 and 1/4 inches. may 1/4" pa kasi yun yung part na kailangang i solder dun sa metal piece

by the way, you cant cut snare wires with that itsy bitsy teeny winny red cutter, use gunting yero. hindi nagtagumpay ang pag cut ko nyan at gunting yero din ginamit ko talaga

di ko makita yung ibang pics e pero hanapin ko ulit sila tonight

drumachine, you can call them at this number 2410669.. they will ask you to fax the drawing nung gusto mo pagawa. then estimate nila kung magkano... ako sketch up lang gamit ko paggawa nung drawings eh..

sa drilling kapag di ka maingat talagang may chance na mag crack yung acrylic - yung 8" acrylic ko, nag crack yung first screw hole dahil masyadong mabilis yung drill. dapat slow rpm lang at matalas na drill bit gagamitin. or if you can find stepped unibits then your odds of success becomes higher

then sa choice of lugs, kung double ended lug gagamitin mo tulad nung nasa acrylic ko, less chance na magcrack yung shell dahil may counter forces sa top at bottom heads unless mabagsak mo sya. kung gagawin mo yung smaller lugs na separate sa top at bottom, malamang may chance na masira yung shell, syempre depende rin sa tension ng heads at kapal ng acrylic na gagamitin.

kahit di mo lagyan ng gasket ok lang. nauso lang naman yung gasket kasi undersized dati yung drums so hindi mag-align ng tama yung lug receiver at tension rod so naglagay ng gasket para tumaas yung lug at pumantay. sabi nung iba, to protect the finish daw pero kung wrapped yung drums kahit walang gasket ok lang. same with urethane finishes. pag lacquer ibang usapan, kung hindi properly dried yun, kahit mag gasket ka pa, babakat pa rin yung korte ng lug

ala problema kung papagawa mo, kaya lang palagi din ako wala sa bahay. mas marami ako ginagawa ng weekends so most of the time wala talaga panahon sa extra curricular activities. pinipilit ko gawin yung mga gusto ko between 8 to 9 pm ng weekdays kaya masyado maiksi oras ko. pero pwede di nga lang rush

gep, that's the same question i asked master peeves last night. pero sadly, wala yatang tube lugs dito sa atin eh. sayang.

o nga pala 1 to 10pm pa pasok ko ngayon kaya nag imbentaryo na ko :-D

Sa Friday bibili na ako ng dalawang 14" 10-lug Pearl hoops (may Superhoops ba sa Yupangco?) at saka Lazer snare wire.
Kung bibigyan ako ng mga magulang ko ng pera (malabo na 'to), mapapaaga ang pagbili ko ng Remo CS clear at Ambassador clear.

Para sa ibang drum parts para sa Jan at Feb, final na to:
ililipat ko na lang hardware ng Trak kit ko, kaya may lugs, legs, claws at hoops na ako. Hehe.
Ang kailangan ko pa bilhin:

1 Pulse Pro rim mount ni Vinci (4-piece lang naman e)
1 Gibraltar L rod
12" and 16" Remo Pinstripe clear heads
12" and 16" Remo Ambassador clear heads

DIY amber... yung shell lang yung pinagawa ko. :D

i think yung 12inch na snare wires ni peeves, he got it from US... yung shorter ones naman.. DIY nya... he cut the snare and solder it again to the connectors.

I used an ordinary electric drill with a porting stone bit... but you'll need steady hands if you're gonna use my method :D

sound file na lang kulang.... waaah... wala akong matinong mic dito.... :-(

pero kung tatanungin nyo kung satisfied ako sa tunog nya...

isa pang bad trip paskong pasko pa naman haay :-( bumili ako ng tension rods at bass claws kanina. pagdating ko excited na patunugin yung bass drum pero masyado maliit yung tension rods na kasama ng claws at pasok sya sa loob ng lugs mismo. hindi kumakapit yung thread :cry:

ayos naman yung nabili ko para sa toms pero hindi pa rin sya fit e. undersized din pero mareremedyuhan. kasi kung di ko aayusin palaging madedetune yung toms ko. yung bass talaga hopeless, ibabalik ko pa sa tindahan

wish ko before new year, pengeng good luck :-P

im at the office and called MAC to ask if they would be open tomorrow sat, they say no, they will be closed till jan 2. that's too long and i cant wait and sit around doing nothing so i left the office with an emergency excuse. went home, took the shell and heads and commuted to binondo.

i met the owner and showed him that the shell is too big and asked if he can do something about it. he said flatly NO. well i knew correcting it would be a problem since i had reinforcement rings installed but if they couldnt repair it, they could at least make me a new one or return part of the money i paid for. no amount of reasoning can get thru this guy, no apologies from him either. instead he pointed me to another acrylic shop across the san fernando bridge to have my shell trimmed down. i knew its hopeless to argue so i packed and went my way. what sucks is that i actually have to pay somebody else to correct MAC's mistake.

unfortunately the other shop couldnt take my shell as they were neck deep in back jobs too. they also warned me that if they trim the shell down, it wont be as clear as it is now and no amount of bufffing cant put it back the way it was. i suggested cutting the shell vertically and glueing it back but they said the shell will crack when we put it back.

now im back at the office, have to stay for 3 more hours today coz that's how long my miserable quest took. sorry for the rant. if you are considering getting a shell from the owner just beware. he's not helpful nor customer friendly at all. he doesnt even listen to what you say no matter how many times you try to explain.

final word of advice, if you want a shell made, be sure to subtract 1/4" from the total diameter e.g. if you want a 14" shell, order 13 and 3/4 instead.

anyway baka magpagawa na lang ulit ako ng isa pang 10" shell para sa kit tapos itong current 10" ko gagawin kong snare later. parang asiwa ako dahil imperfect yung shell para dun sa kit. gagamitin ko lang muna sya as tom for now habang wala pa ko pera ulit.

ang kapal ng bearing edge. it usually takes me 10 minutes to cut both edges on a wood drum but since this is the thickest edge i've cut so far, took me an hour an 15 minutes for the 10". the 14" tom took about an hour and a half

after cutting pic pa lang, lihahin ko pa ng 1200 grit para kuminis yan. ginawa ko sharp 45 degree edge para resonant yung toms. pinaka resonant yung double 45 degree cut pero baka mapasobra naman yung overtones.

toms ko, they sound suprisingly resonant and deep.

initial review ko sa aquarian heads...i dont like them at all...too muffled even with the classic clear model (single ply).

the aquarians are not at all bad. they are perfect for drums that are too bright. id use single ply aquarians only, their double plies are too heavy and sound boxy.

i might get remo clear ambassadors and open the sound more

Yep, si bro wax_static gumagawa. As for the parts, the cheapest route is to go all-lazer. They have an assortment of lugs ranging from 50 pesos to 120 pesos each. Then tension rods are 10 pesos a pop. They have hoops too, but you're limited to triple-flanged. As for the snare wires and throw-off, you have the option of choosing Gibraltar pieces, but these are more expensive.

All in all, for a snare, aabutin ka ng 2.5 to 3k for the hardware pa lang. Wala pang shell, wala pang heads.
