[Help] Are there any Cakewalk software users here?
« on: March 21, 2006, 04:59:15 PM »

Right way o wrong way? Wrong way is to use guitar cable with 1/8" plug on the other end and use mic input. Very unpredictable because mic out of soundcard has +5VDC on ring of the stereo trs connection. Di ko alam kung anong effect ng +5V sa circuits ng gitara. Theoretically, shunted to ground ung +5V if you insert 1/8" mono plug but you may never know; there is still 5 volt potential sa sleeve/shield ng guitar/cable.

Right way is to use a preamp (preferably with stereo outs) and connect that to soundcard LINE inputs. If you have amp modeler with line outs, you can connect that to line inputs also. Never connect guitar direct to line in because impedance mismatch will cause input to easily distort and cause guitar to sound thin.

You need a preamp muna sir much better kung may DI box din. Try mo rin ung Guitar Rig ng Native Instruments for FXs. Malaki nga lang latency pag direct ka nag plug lalo na onboard ung Soundcard.

A full explanation on a soundcard's inputs and outputs including other little known facts about soundcards. Includes 'how to connect a a dynamic mic to Soundblaster cards' explanation.

What is your soundcard? Soundblaster? Motherboard audio? Or yung mga CMI na soundcard? In most cases, gagamitin mo dapat ung 'line-in' jack, usually light green ang kulay nun. Line outs (for speakers) are light blue, while mic in is pink. If you have a preamp, ung line outs nun go to line in ng soundcard.

Mas malakas ata ung signal sa MIC in kaya sabog ang sound pag dun mo pinlug.

DIrect boxes are in essence, transformers. They convert unbalanced line-level or instrument level signals to balanced mic-level. Here's an example from the Whirlwind site:

In the example above, the direct signal from the instrument will be sent to the mixer, not the amped signal. This is useful if you intend to re-amp the guitar for recording purposes while the signal going back to the amp becomes your monitor signal. The full article can be found here.

Basically i babalance nya lang ung signal para di sabog ung tunog pag pumasok sa PC or kung live pwede ka mag plug sa house (PA). GUITAR ->FX(Preamp)-> DI PC/MIXER

Artcore nasakin pa rin.
