the TS was supposed to bring in Frank Gambale here...
too bad, wala pa yatang 100pax ang nag confirm

He was also involved in bringing in John Scofield, Mike Stern, Hiromi, & just recently, Scott Henderson ( w/ Jeff Berlin & Dennis Chambers ) & a lot of other Heavyweights in Jazz. he also would love to bring in Robben Ford, Pat Metheny & John Abercrombie. They tried to bring in the Five Peace band ( Chick Corea, John Mc Laughlin ) last year but unfortunately, di sila makaka break even man lang sa production costs...

So let's all support his latest production... Stanley Jordan

Salamat Jimmy sa kind words but let's give credit where credit is due. In as much as I would have loved to have booked all those names you mentioned, I was only involved "directly" with the Scott Henderson Trio gig last October. I support the Phil International Jazz Fest organizers in any way I can. Yes, I approached a number of people to bring Frank Gambale but it fell on deaf ears. Sayang. Buti pa ang Mumbai, India (!) -nakatikim!

The tour manager of Stanley Jordan is the same guy I dealt with kay Scott Henderson. I ended up passing this gig to the PIJF organizers. They have the machinery to do this and do it right. Sana nga ako na as much as I would be dealing with only two people: Stanley and the manager.

Believe it or not, I too would have to pay to see this concert...go figure. No free ride!!!

OO nga. The irony of this is, Frank was preparing to tour with his acoustic group "Natural High" with Otmaro Ruiz on piano and Alain Caron on acoustic guitar bass to push their recordings. The fact is, it would be "harder" to market Gambale in an acoustic setting for the simple reason that his Natural High recordings are relatively unknown here, probably known only to the die-hard Gambale fans. So I suggested that they consider an electric fusion trio instead, for it will sell better and that is what people would expect to see and hear. Names were tossed around: drummers Danny Gottlieb and Paul Wertico; and bassists Anthony Jackson or Dominique di Piazza. This was around November-December of last year. The trio that ended up with Gambale were Stu Hamm and drummer Joel Taylor. Not a bad group at all. Tapos they ended up playing in Singapore, India, and Japan. No Manila. Oh well...

Now back to Stanley Jordan...
