Anyway, nice drumset! Naalala ko si Steve Gadd diyan ha.

Sorry bro, wala ako scanner e!  Wala na akong pera pambili!  Pero, I suggest you get an original copy of Joe Morello's book.  Try mo umorder sa Bookwagon.. mas reliable dun kesa sa mga music shops sa Pinas!I no longer have Stone's book with me.. I'll try to get one in the US next month.  Master Studies ang sinasaytay ko ngayon (back to basics ako!).

Ngapala, try mo rin pumunta sa UP Diliman college of music.  Mas maganda kung may kakilala ka dun kasi alam ko meron Stick Control and Accents and Rebounds books sa library..  Pwede mo yun paphotocopy sa college of music mismo..  But then again, I suggest you get an original one..

Tnx

Paano ba, yung sabay-sabay lahat? Inaaral ko yung from pinky to middle finger e, mas mabilis yun, kasi apat ang mapapalo natin sa isang stroke.

Ganun ba yun?

Traditional Grip or Matched Grip?
« Reply #66 on: September 10, 2006, 05:28:53 PM »
i think ang tawag sa modern grip is match grip.

depende rin sa akin. kung medyo heavy na, match grip na ako kasi masakit sa daliri magheavy ng traditional eh. i'm just starting to use it pa.

Traditional Grip or Matched Grip?
« Reply #72 on: September 10, 2006, 09:56:46 PM »
I use matched grip most of the time, though at times I also toy around with traditional grip.

Reasons why I utilize matched grip:

- I've been using matched grip since I first started, so I already got used to it and I'm very comfortable with it.
- Matched grip is a more natural choice.  I've read in Modern Drummer that, with traditional grip, more hand muscles are used.  Drummers who use traditional grip are more prone to hand pains and injuries.  Matched grip uses less muscles, and is more natural.  Ask a little kid to grab a stick, and he/she will hold it in a matched grip position.
- I always believe that one can get both power and finesse with matched grip.  It's the best of both worlds.
- Personally, I like matched grip because it gives me a sense of symmetry, meaning, both hands use the same gripping position.  I feel more balanced.
- I play and sound better with matched grip.

But I'm not against traditional grip.  Whichever style of grip that works best for you and your music, use it!

mostly matched grip since i used to play in a rock band.

but when playing some bebop jazz or any of style music that doesn't require a bombastic left hand strokes mas loose yung feel kapag naka traditional grip. there are certain bounce technique that are much easier executed using the TG like that moeller techniqu if i'm no tmistaken.

still the nicest thing about match grip is you are well balanced in posture. TG tends to bring your left shoulder angled down some more.

Traditional Grip or Matched Grip?

For me...  I use Traditional grip.. share ko lng po ung pros and cons saken nitong grip..

Prons..
-the advantage of easy shifting from snare to your tom.. kasi most of the time, nung naka matched grip ako, sumasabit sa rim ng tom yung sticks ko.. ahhuhuhu.. now i've found a way to solve it!..
-when playing soft songs, mas relax ang left hand ko
-it allows me to execute fast strokes (1234)=(RLRL) in a fast manner. like 32nd? tama ba?
-easy execution of ghost notes..

COns..
-mejo mahirap matyempuhan ang proper rim shot
-pag gipit sa space ang drumset because of the venue, so compressed yung set up mo, sumasabit ang left hand ko sa hats while hitting tom.
-hindi madaling mag cross-stick..

ayun po.. share ko lang... but i use Matched Grip from time to time.. when loud playing is required.. I shifted to Traditional because of the reason na, im a loud player... napapagalitan ako sa school ensemble namen because of it... i found out that Traditional Grip allows me to control my volume easily.. from soft-medium-loud... pag very loud, Matched grip!

cheers!!!
