Post by: burnsbhm on April 18, 2018, 02:58:07 AM
Any expert recording engineer/producer in the house? I need help regarding damaged elements/multitracks in WAV files.

All the tracks on the mutlitracks have sudden spurts of noise (about a few milliseconds long) when I transferred it to a different flashdrive.

Brute force method : If it's just one cycle of the waveform, you can just set the volume of that particular portion to zero. If the millisecond comprises of several cycles, it will be impossible to fix without it being noticeable.

If it was a bit or sample conversion during transfer (ie, sounds like loud static), it's almost impossible to fix. Just get a new copy of the file.

+1 eto na yan. and then apply a reverb to mask the sudden dead silence durng those cuts.

kung instrument tracks sana mas madali patungan.. but if the part that was damaged kinda repeated like refrain or chorus.. you can just copy the part same as the damaged, using your mixing software and put it on the 2nd track.. 1st track is the whole wav file (consisting all mixed multitracks).. itapat po lang kung saan yun may damage.. expand mo lang yun waveform para mas malinaw saan itatapat.. remember to minimize the volume nun damaged part sa 1st track

PS

medyo mahirap lang gawan ulit ng take (record again) if you don't want to patch it with a copy.. most especially milliseconds lang yun nadamage..

► let us say part siya ng chorus na inuulit.. say chorus siya after the 2nd verse.. look for the chorus after the 1st verse, same part dun sa na-damage.. copy it and put it on the 2nd track ▼

NOTE: → of course this is all hypothetical.. the highlighted part is not in millisecond

► now remember to minimize the volume of the damage part.. if the mixer software can do it or be able to do it

► now mixcraft cannot do that.. and so if your mixer software cannot do too then all you have to do is just rip the part that is damaged then patch it on the 2nd track na lang ▼

► now if you cannot find a suitable patch.. say the damage part is 100 millisecond.. copy a 50 millisecond on right and another 50 millisecond on the left and patch it on the 2nd track like this ▼

► i believe hindi na masyado pansin yun kung milliseconds lang.. wag lang void yun part na yun

► like Ralph_Petrucci said.. put on effects like reverb or delay para hindi din masyado mapansin..

or if you still have the project file.. say this mix are saved as "God Be Praised.MXC"  all you have to do is render it again into MP3 or MP4.. as long as you saved it in a file like for mixcraft project it is in *.mxc file.. you can go over it again and again.. put on another track or change effects, change volume of the whole track or every instrument track.. highlight vocal track of bass track, etc.. and render it how many times you wanted.. in MP3 or MP4 or OGG or WAV file
