Sorry for bumping a necro thread, but I'm really curious about this. Torn between this and the Helix Floor / Helix LT.
mas mura yata yung AX8. but mas lamang yung helix when it comes to routing/multipath options. soundwise, kanya kanyang preference lang.

Yeah I saw the price nga. I started becoming curious after reading up on it and watching comparisons with the Helix on Youtube. Seems like it's less prone to fizz and soundwise, I kind of preferred it more than the Helix. Also FOUR EXPRESSION PEDAL SLOTS!

It's very nice. Sounds what you would expect witha Fractal. Firmware updates are plentiful. Got new amps and effects with the new Quantum update. It's easy to use. I never found the need to use the computer editor. But the Helix is far easier to use. But for sure, you got more control and mod options with the AX8.

I use a power amp and a conventional 4x12 or 2x12. Pag live, power amp and cab out 1 for stage sound and volume. Out 2 straight to FOH with the stock speaker sims which are already pretty good. I never really liked the sound of FRFR. The AX8 can do pretty convincing amp in the room sounds provided you have a great poweramp.
My favorite is running through the efx return of my tube amp. Huuuuuge sound.

True re running into power amp in of a tube amp. Saturating output transformers is inimitable and is really satisfying.

It's the perfect hybrid setup. I sometimes run a preamp sim of a 5150 thru my 5150 and the amp sounds even better compared to when Im just running its own tube preamp. It sounds so clean and accurate without that high volume compression and mush.

Coming out from years of retirement, i wanted something more kaso hindi practical kumuha ng tube amp/cab so sabe ko bahla na. Laki ng learning curve, daming in depth audio tweakble functions. Isang linggo na dn to.
Hopefully by the time sumabak sa rehearsal studio for a jam, naaral ko na how this works.

So... i just went out with the ax8 on my first rehearsal studio practice with a band (since more than 10yrs) nitong friday.
Plugged it onto a mixer connected to behringer speakers. Sound wise, maganda nga cya, prang hi-fi audio. But ayun nga, hindi mo cya maramdaman lalo na kung full blast with the whole band playing along.
Experiencing this, and from how i understand the ax8 manual, i'll connect an FXLoop block tapos connect sa combo amp pra meron ako marinig since wla nman monitor provided sa studio na napunthan namin.
Cant compre with other multiFX with regards to sound quality since hindi naman ako nakagamit ng iba other than sa gmit ko back in the days which is a digitech rp300 + sansamp GT2.
How do u guys deal with this?

I run parallel outs. Out 1 to power amp and conventional guitar cabinet. cab sims off Out 2 to PA cab sims on.
But the problem is you have to use full amp sims with your power amp. Kasi hindi puwede preamp sim ka sa out 1 tapos full amp sim ka sa out 2 like the axe fx II. If you are using a combo amp and you are plugging through the efx loop and using the AX8 preamp models, you are out of luck.
I don't like using FRFR for stage volume since iba talaga feel ng typical guitar cab. But if you are plugging straight to PA, you can buy FRFR speaker cabs or PA speakers as your stage cab. If that;s the case, mas madali kasi parang naka double out ka lang for the same sim.

Yun nga naramdaman ko agad when playing through sa loudspeakers. Wala. Hahaha! And to think antagal na dn ako hindi nakagamit ng rehearsal studio or sa stage at naalala pa dn ng katawan ko feeling ng totoong amp. Pero my mindset bago ko binili tong ax8 is adapting to change so, i'll just enjoy the ride.
For now, goal is to get a good tone in the studio and live on stage. Nothing againts using real amps nor being a die hard frfr fan, being practical lng dahil kakabalik ko lng at playing guitar and with a band for a very long time.
Will try to record a studio clip sa next rehearsal and share for the sake of discussion. Hirap din kung puro youtube at sariling analysis lang.

Unfortunately, legacy product na ang AX8 at superceeded na ng FM3. But watch out for sellers, i'm sure meron yan. For me, tatago ko muna. Magagamit pa din kasi and puede pa ipamana sa kapatid or anak. hehehe

Kung DSP specs, hindi ata ganun kalaki difference compared sa AX8. Di ko na maalala details about dun sir hehehe.
Isa sa naiisip kong itry yang 2 footswitch for scenes or preset changes. Kelangan naten maging mautak mag set ng patch and layouts dahil sa 3 button. Kakamiss 6 buttons ng ax8 pero habol ko talaga is mas compact na rig.

Yup. Mukhang ok naman yung 3 button layout hehe. Galing rin nakaisip ng function ng mga footswitch.
Nag order ako sa shopee ng mosky dual footswitch. 647 lang hehe. Pwede na siguro yun as external fs.
Balak ko kasi pang toggle lang ng scene - effects view then yung isang fs tap tempo / tuner :)
