Guys, my 7 month old catalina maple kit snare gave yp on me. Two lugs (is that what you call yung kinakabitan ng screws) broke off. Has anyone experienced this. Any suggestions? Is it still under warranty from jb?
Thanks.

Thanks.

I also have a Catalina Maple Snare and fortunately I still have no problem with it.. Can you post a picture of your broken lugs? Can I see it? So if ever, I would have an idea on what to do if I encountered this

Vinci and his www.thedrumshopmanila.com might help you out.. He also sells spare parts for Gretsch kits.. :-)

I read from international forums, and apparently some local drums already know this, that gretsch lugs are week. In that case, should i still pursue claiming warranty from JB? Is there even a chance i'll get the lugs replaced?
Or, shoukd i just replace all the lugs and buy from the drum shop?
Still love my kit.

Try pursuing the warranty.. Still, its a "warranty" privilege.. Just make sure that the warranty is not yet expired.. Replace the lugs only if they didn't give you warranty..

Hindi lugs ang weak. Swivel Nuts. Nabibile naman yun everywhere.

Wala pako nakita Gretsch lugs na nabasag. Meron Yamaha

Oh, sorry, so thats what you call them.  My bad for the rookie mistake.

Aren't the swivel nuts part of the lugs, that when you buy them kasama sa lugs?

Very good question newbie :-)

Yung mga Gretsch USA Custom, at Signature Set.. Gawa sa  U.S.

Yung mga Gretsch New Classic, Renown 57', Renown Purewood Wenge, Renown Maple, New Catalina Maple, Catalina Maple, Catalina Ash, Catalina Birch, Catalina Club Jazz, Catalina Club Rock, Blackhawk H3, at Blackhawk mga gawang Taiwan/China..

According to Gretsch Drums, 6-ply Ash shells ang gamit sa Catalina Ash.. Oo nga no wala pa ko naririnig na review about Ash shells.. Puro Maple and Birch shells ang common eh..hehehe :-)

Personal review ko mga tol...

I just recently bought a Cat Maple... on the other hand, a friend of mine has a Cat ash... bago ako bumili, binisita ko yung ash nia at pinaglaruan ko ng matagal para naman may reference ako ng konti sa mga Cats...

Very different and sound at attack nila. Mas malakas ang attack ng Cat Maple. Not to mention mas mabigat pa ito kesa sa Ash... Using stock heads, mahirap itono ang Ash... even with finger tight tuning, mahirap kunin yung magandang "thuump" sound... Where as sa Cat maple, napaka dali...

Then, linabas namin yung kit sa terrace nila at dun ko pinalo... I was amazed kasi napaka ganda ng sound ng ash sa open area... tapos nakakaaliw pakantahin yung 8 and 10 toms... hindi pa ako nakontento, we place my coated emperors on the toms... Ayun na!!! very nice sounding and the attact was beautiful...

My conclusion, lahat ng catalina maganda ang sound in different aspect and terms... And based on my experience... malaking bagay ang heads sa Ash...

Paging Plipitiw, kasi may cat ash din yung student nia, tapos may Cat maple naman sya... pa-Post ka ng review mo tol... :-D

BTW, here is the cat ash kit of my friend...
