i like cymbals that sound good, regardless of brands...as of now di pa kumpleto yung cymbal set up ko. anyway heres the how i like them.

hihats: i was given a pair of old new beats. nice. it's got that nice chick, great washy sound when you bash them. and they are funky  :mrgreen:

crashes: i like 18" crashes. i have an A Custom projection crash which I like! it kinda reminds me of Bonham's crash sound which I like. I also like the 19" K Dark medium thin crash!! dark and washy! i know some are selling it here in philmusic, still saving up for it! Z customs sound great too! I also like the crashes in the alpha Paiste line!

rides: i like the jazz rides. a K dark ride, and the 22" constantinoples. i have an old 22" Avedis ride which is sweet..im not a fan of dry rides, and very pingy ones

chinas: 18" are awesome! orientals or paiste pst5!!!! ihave yet to try a wuhan...

splashes: the best sounding one's for me are A Customs, the 8" and 10" models!

The Armand models sound nice too!! i generally like the cymbal sounds from the 60's and 70's! I love cymbals! It depends what music you play thou, but i like playing all kinds...

hey niko, yeah, you really have to try a wuhan. or better yet, a stagg DH 18".

PST5 is only b8 bronze and has only a limited amount of thrashiness. haha you ought to try my china and see if you would like it. :D

OT: goodluck sa mag:net bonifacio men. 72 prod?

don't underestimate B8... maraming china na gawa sa B8 bronze na VERY trashy, much more so than Orientals (which tend to be more gongy and kangy than trashy). ang Sabian merong B8 Pro Chinese (underrated) tsaka yung Signature Devastation Chinese (todo white noise), tapos yung bagong mga Chinas at O-Zone ng APX trashy din sobra (well, at least yung mga soundfile nila sa sabian.com maganda tunog).

hey man, yeah, maybe i said that in general. but talking about paiste PST5, it's surely one of the lowest end of paiste. which is all machine hammered. i've used one, and sad to say. it really does not sound "chinese" enough. and anyway, 2002 and alpha's are high ends of paiste already. and would cost you an arm and a leg. no doubt, according to zildjian, sabian or any other cymbal manufacturer, B20 bronze is the most durable alloy to be used on cymbals. try to compare the PST5 china against wuhan lions or stagg DH's to see for yourself. but hey! that's just me. kaya nga "explain your cymbal tastes". and another thing??

i never underestimated B8's. i only said that it has limited thrashiness and nothing more. durability wise? yeah, maybe i would underestimate them. but in sound? uh,uh. never said a thing. at mehn, malayo ang price range ng PST5 sa 2002 at alphas.

ralph:

basta the point is, if niko thinks Orientals (which I've tried and don't approve of) and PST5s (which you've tried and don't approve of) are nice, he SHOULD try Wuhans, Staggs, Sabians... actually, anything out in the market. to develop one's taste for good cymbals, one has to sample all the flavors out there, di ba?

tsaka oo grabe yung APX O-Zone! GALIT SA MUNDO!!! kaso di ako bibili niyan unless may lifetime warranty. isang maling galaw lang magdidisintegrate agad yan e.

i'd be happy if i had this as my cymbal set up:

* zildjian a series sweet ride
* zildjian 17" a custom projection crash
* zildjian 17" a series medium thin crash
* zildjian 14" a series new beat hi-hats
* zildjian 'oriental' china of any size.

this is my current cymbal set up though:
* solar 14" hi hats
* zildjian 17" a series thin crash
* zildjian planet z 20" ride
* zildjian zbt 16" crash
* and i kinda borrowed my friend's zildjian Amir II china  :-)

:lol: )

I don't have a specific taste. As long as it fits the budget it alright. I find it better to not have a specific favorite because parang mas magiging "maarte" ka. Plus it gives you an open selection of cymbals and cool sounds.
