Car audio experts - need your advice
« on: October 19, 2010, 01:17:56 AM »
So i got my first non-hand-me-down second hand vehicle for a steal.
1995 Toyota Corona. Works well. Needs some mechanical repairs which costs a pretty penny.

I was thinking of putting a decent stereo system in the car. Currently has 6 speakers:
1 each per door. Don't know the size nor brand but has a decent sound.
2 tweeters at each side mirror internal garnish.

Here's what I plan to do:
1. Get a car stereo with an aux in
2. Purchase either Ipod Classic or Ipod Touch latest gen or just my Nokia E63 with a 16gb card and load them with Mp3s.
3. Speaker upgrade will be coming from a brand new Honda Civic. They're free so I really couldn't say no  :-D

My target: decent clarity. Nothing really loud. Don't event want to put in those 'subs' for a couple of reasons:
1. I need the trunk space.
2. I don't want to put a hole on my rear board.
3. It's GAS. I don't want to go there.

All suggestions are highly appreciated. Tips, brand, sources.

TIA,
T

sir, if you are planning to get a headunit with only aux-in and not usb input, u can settle for pioneer 1350 i dont know if it is phased out or not but its one of the most cheapest ones in the market. as for the front speakers, u can get clif design brand. for 4k, it includes 2 tweeters and 2 speakers. i personally use it and its worth the 4k i spent.  :-D
