Well, I'm sure that this gadget is a FAILure.

- No Camera/Webcam built in
- No Blutooth
- Has the same features of an Ipod Touch
- It runs apps of Iphone/Itouch

The only differences are:

- Compass (WTF?!)
- Much better Calendar
- Larger Screen

But let's give it a chance, maybe there'll be great apps for this one.

The accessories are just bull crap:

If it's a dream to type on, then why even bother making this kind of crap?

Jobs say it's better than a Laptop but no, it's not.

Haha that's just not right. That's why Apple failed us this time. For $499, you get to read the news.

Naalala niyo ganito din ginawa sa iphone 1st gen. walang cam and bluetooth pero touch screen lang siya.
Siguro agree ako na sa ngayon walang silbi yang 1st gen iPad. Let's wait for the next gens.
And kung ang ipod nano nag-iiba ng shape, I'm sure ito din. At hindi ako makakamove on pag di nila naenhance to.
I was waiting for this crap. Kala ko talaga may sick na bagong tablet na ilalabas ang Apple. Damn

ha? anong iPhone yan sinasabi mo men.. meron akong 1st gen iPhone.. meron naman syang camera at bluetooth..  :?

abut the iPad lacking an "iSight" I think I know the reason why..

isipin nyo nalang, sa pag gawa kasi ng isang bagay kailangan mong isipin ang purpose.. so hindi naman pwedeng hindi sinadya ng apple na wag lagyan ng camera ang iPad.. ano nga bang purpose para lagyan ito ng built in camera? hmmm para magpa picture? imagine kukunan mo ng picture yung tropa mo using this.. parang angsagwa tingnan diba?

siguro ang gusto iparating satin is kung kakayanin nating bumili ng iPad.. meron naman na tayong iPhone for sure.. and ang pinaka logical na gagamitin nating pangpicture is yung pinakamadali at pinaka natural na paraan which is our iPhone then ibu-bluetooth natin sa sya iPad natin para i-view ng mas malaki.

kung para naman sa video conferencing and calling.. eh dapat nasa harapan yung camera.. so pag nasa harap yung camera ang magiging use lang nung camera na yun is solely for video/3G conferencing.. hindi na for taking pictures.. (kasi mas lalong imposible mag take ng picture ng di mo nakikita yung pipicturan mo at nakaharap din sa kanya yung screen.. unless mag self portrait kayo)

ok sige.. dapat dalawang camera! isa sa likod isa sa harap.. hmmm mas sablay ata yun.. kasi it will be very awkward sa form and usage purpose ng isang "tablet computer" na lalagyan mo pa ng camera.. isipin nyo nalang.. nandyan na ang iPhone and DSLR.. o isama mo pa ang point and shoot.. so why bother taking a picture using a gargantuan tablet?

matalino si Esteban.. so I believe isa sa mga sinabi ko ang pwedeng isa sa mga dahilan nya para wag lagyan ng built in camera ang iPad..

pero who knows.. public clamor! baka pagbigyan din..  :-D

how is that FAIL? tell that to LV / Gucci / any other high-end signature brands. For P15,000 you get to carry your make-up kit, a cellphone, and a wallet, but you carry it with style! :D

the bottom line is: this iPad is a luxury item that most people want but they either don't need, or can't afford.

Ang point ni Steve Jobs is, this IPAD is better than a LAPTOP. My question is HOW is it better than a LAPTOP? This Ipad can't even do multitasking. So dadalhin mo ang Iphone/DSLR para lang makapag picture? Mas maganda ata kung gagawa sila ng external camera (that functions as a webcam) para man lang ma-satisfy nila ang Loyal Apple users.

The bottomline is, this IPAD is just an oversized IPOD TOUCH.

He he he, this device can't even multi-task. You need to close the current app to answer an IM :) Will my wife buy one of these? Maybe. If it can run BSD or Linux, maybe I'll get one  :-D

I'm not totally against this unit because of its lack of important features. But I will wait for it to grow.

I know this is one of Apple's marketing strategy. They introduce a device lacking features so people can complain about its lack of Blah Blah and Blah Blah. But I believe that when they release a developed version of the IPAD, I bet it would be a hit and it will make people let go of their laptops. Well, I just hope that JOBS develop it ASAP because the IPAD hasn't been receiving good comments since it was shown to the public.

Lifted from OSNews [1]

It runs most iPhone applications unmodified, but what about screen size, you wonder? Well, the iPad can either run iPhone applications in their "native" resolution (i.e., a small iPhone-sized window in the middle of the screen, the rest black), or you can tap the 2x button, which will double the pixels, cover the screen, and enter a low-resolution mode.

talk practicality all you want, but the iPad gets us one step closer to this scene. :-D

and i'm betting that Apple is just waiting for the negative flow of criticism before injecting revisions to the first generation.

however, what i really don't like is the closed system.

here's an interesting read on Apple, the iPad, and the future! :)

it basically says that: Yes, the concept of the iPad has placed certain restrictions, but that those restrictions can also have their benefits; that you can't really look at all of this as black or white.

read the whole text here:
http://stevenf.tumblr.com/post/359224392/i-need-to-talk-to-you-about-computers-ive-been

part of it:
Quote
A Bet on the Future

Apple is calling the iPad a “third category” between phones and laptops. I am increasingly convinced that this is just to make it palatable to you while everything shifts to New World ideology over the next 10-20 years.

Just like with floppy disks, the rest of the industry is quite content to let Apple be the ones to stick their necks out on this. It’s a gamble to be sure. But if Apple wins the gamble (so far it’s going well), they are going to be years and years ahead of their competition. If Apple loses the gamble, well, they have no debt and are sitting on a Fort Knox-like pile of cash. It’s not going to sink them.

The bet is roughly that the future of computing:

- has a UI model based on direct manipulation of data objects
- completely hides the filesystem from the user
- favors ease of use and reduction of complexity over absolute flexibility
- favors benefit to the end-user rather than the developer or other vendors
- lives atop built-to-specific-purpose native applications and universally available web apps
- All in all, it sounds like a pretty feasible outcome, and really not a bad one at that.

But we Old Worlders have to come to grips with the fact that a lot of things we are used to are going away. Maybe not for a while, but they are.

Will the whole industry move to New World computing? Not unless Apple is demonstrably successful with this approach. So I’d say you’re unlikely to see it universally applied to all computing devices within the next couple of decades.

But Wednesday’s keynote tells me this is where Apple is going. Plan accordingly.

How long will it take to complete this Old World to New World shift? My guess? The end is near when you can bootstrap a new iPad application on an iPad. When you can comfortably do that without pining for a traditional desktop, the days of Old World computing are officially numbered.

The iPad as a particular device is not necessarily the future of computing. But as an ideology, I think it just might be. In hindsight, I think arguments over “why would I buy this if I already have a phone and a laptop?” are going to seem as silly as “why would I buy an iPod if it has less space than a Nomad?”
