as i learned from my electronics lessons and in my research in audio tech,

i consider various things like minimal cable length, low impedance cables, good quality jocks, thickness and composition of a cable before i get to include them in my room's snakes collection.

usually talaga nagpapa-assemble na lang ako sa Audiophile kasi mas ok talaga 'pag according sa specs mo yung makukuha mong cable.

minsan sa mga hardware stores ako tumitingin kasi mas marami silang buo ng cables with good materials at a cheaper price.

i use CANARE brand cables. it gave me years og good performance. actualy worn out na neurtik connectors ko, but ung cable, still great pa din ung cables. one good thing is malambot sya so di masyado mahirap i roll and manipis lang sya so di mabigat pag ni roroll.

klotz is also good, pero mas subok ko na ung Canare, ayun nga lang, may kamahalan. and one thing, gumamit din kasi ko ng klots. matigas ung cable. and ung braid nya sa loob. di masyado pino. ung braid ng canare talagang solid. mahirap talupan ung braid

theres a raging debate about whether branded cables introduce any difference in sound quality. very scientific tests have revealed no noticeable differences between expensive branded cables and cheap generic hardware cables as far as sound quality goes.

i guess the main difference will be in your specific use- eg if you need balanced connections, RCAs, PL, XLRs- all of these mediums have their places. probably the best cables have to be shielded and they should fit well into the I/O ports. ie, are they low noise cables.

of course, sticking to a brand that hasnt failed you is good for your own comfort.

recently nagpaassemble na lang ako sa audiophile: klotz cables with neutrik plugs. no problems whatsoever, as expected. They sound great, and noise is minimal.

but honestly, i havent noticed much difference from the no name cables i used to use.

At first I did not believe in those exotic type cables as I was a witness (ear-witness?) to a cable shoot out in one of those AES Conventions in the US.  Even the top recording engineers could not tell the difference.  But when I did try some AB'ing with guitar cables, there was a noticeable difference  (maybe because in recording you use balance lines and in guitars unbalanced ones?), especially on the high end.  Klotz cables for guitars, even the TourTec ones from Samson sound excellent.  Nobelle and Proels are also nice.  For studio use, we use Canares and Mogami cables; Monster Cables for speakers.  Belden for broadcast purposes.  Canare, Klotz and Mogami are rather expensive for long runs and the several connections needed in broadcasting.

I have to react on the point between no brand cables and really reputable branded cables.

Those no branded tend to break after a few times even when used fixed. Plus consider the durability of the coat (against ngatngat ng daga) on how it may introduce noise (ung iba maapakan mo lang tutunog na).

Tried and tested for use is Horizon brand. Although di ko na gusto ung mga bagong horizon. I used the old one na medjo matigas ung cable. For fixed used, I wont worry about the ease of rolling it. Pero for portability ok na din ang klotz.

Samson can be had from any Audiphile branch.  These are the TourTec ones.  As for Mogami, you have to import them from Singapore.  We provided several rolls for CG4 (Carmel House) Studios previously which I designed.  I am not sure if they still have some spare.

Samson, you get them from any Audiophile store.  This is the TourTec series.  Mogami and Canare, I used to get them from Lee Bee Huat, Yew Tee Industrial Estate, Singapore.  They are in the Singapore phonebook.  Mr. Au is the contact person (Au Seck Ngee <leebeehuat@pacific.net.sg>).

This is about Instrument Cables. Brand dosen't matter much but based on my experience I haven't tried any generic cable that isn't noisy. I use generic cable for guitar practice only but on a critical situtation like big gigs and recording I won't risk it. When it comes to sound quality not all cables sounds the same if you listen closely and branded ones sounds better most of the time. I guess the quality and how the cable was made really matters at all cause it carries signals. I use Fender California Cables, Samson Tourtek, Surelock Cables, Quantum Cables and originial Shure Mic cable that came with the Mic for Gigs and Home Recording Studio. When it comes to plugs I prefer Neutrik cuase I find them durable and reliable. Quantum plugs are also good. I also tried Nobelle and they are well made and they sound good also but I don't have one as of the moment but I'll get one soon. So far so good and it does the Job.
You may say I\'m a dreamer. But I\'m not the only one. I know someday you\'ll join us and the world will live as one...
