ei guys,
medyo down kc ako ngyon sa pagtugtog ng drums,
ang kalat ko pumalo these days tapos parang ang bigat sa loob ko,
parang frustrated ako lagi kapag nagddrums, ndi ako kuntento sa tunog ko,
makes me think about quitting drumming and focus on studies,
anyways,
kc importante naman diba para sa kahit kaninong musikero ang maging inspired?
more than the skills,
it's how you apply it that is more important,
so how do you guys keep yourselves inspired?

naramdaman ko n rin yan. pero kahit talikuran mo yan babalik at babalik p rin. my advice is try mo mag shift to other music genres.

try to listen s mga classic like toto,spyro gyra.put the music into your heart not in your ears.believe me.

ganyan din ako minsan eh. kahit ngayon ganyan din. pa iba iba. depende heheh..ako ginagawa ko lang laging nag iisip tungol sa drums at makinig ng music lalo na sa mga pabortito o kaya magagaling na drummer para ma inspire.

Hmm... i also felt that way nung nawala yung original na drummer ng show band and i was expecting na ako ang papalit kasi ako na lagi ang nagse-session, tapos may kinuha pa na iba. It made me think, maayos ba palo ko / groove ko or is it kalat kaya iba ang kinuha nila? And tagal na ako nato-torment dahil hindi ako makapunta ng Manila para ituloy JIHAD sessions ko!

I feel your frustration kapatid..ganyan din ako..haay!

Well I would go with their suggestions..go to EB's, watch live performances..listen to different Genre's and watch drum dvds..finding inspiration can be a challenge from time to time..I think its normal, but the important thing is we get back on track and focus on what we want to achieve..kaya natin ito! Be positive!

hay... kaya nga eh. hirap pa naman lalo na pag busy sa trabaho or nag aaral katulad ko.. nawawalan na ng time makapag drums or practice. kaya nga minsan pare parehas lang tayo na nakakaramdam ng frustration diba. basta mag isip lang palagi ng drums. makinig ng music. watch dvd's ng paborito mo na banda na paborito mo din drummer pwede din watch instructional dvds hehe. totoo naman yung dudumi yung palo natin pero yung kinakalawang sa pag palo madali lang naman mabalik yung dati mong palo. konting practice lang kuha na ulit. siyempre hindi na yun mawawala sayo basta natutunan mo na at nagawa mo na dati ng malinis.

ey man, jpmb to the rescue haha..well all people i think experience ups and downs man..maybe your just on the downside right now but that wouldnt be for long i assure you..dude i think you just need time management for yourself para maisingit mo yun drums while your still studying..i know you can find a way for that pare..dude when i was working for our pearl and sabian dept before bihira din ako makapalo because of my working hours pero i always find a way na kahit drumstciks lang at pads eh makapractice ako..you just need an inspiration for that pare..i suggest you wacth more drumming vids and listen to new genre that you can experiment on..or my best advice....find a girl drummer and date her..hahaha..im sure mainspire ka mag drums and you wont leave drumming pare hahaha

I treat those kinds of days as, well, parang bad hair day. No reason to shave my head bald.

Chicken and egg situation: When I think I drum well, I get inspired. And when I'm inspired, I somehow come up with stuff that I enjoy hearing.

When I'm not inspired to play drums, but I think I have to.... I practice rudiments na lang while watching TV.(di naman kelangan mainspire pag nagrurudiments eh). When I get inspired later on, at least medyo OK na chops ko. And the cycle goes on.

subukan ko makapunta sa eb, kya lang kc super layo from imus,
pero since kelangan ko talaga ngyon subukan ko na rin to finally meet you guys,
salamat sa lahat ng advice,
but i think i'll be skipping the dating part(cheers sir jp

)
lately kc nakafocus ako sa techniques ng pag drums,
lagi ako babad sa teknikalities kya siguro minsan di ko na nafi-feel yung music,
sana maaus na to, thanks for all you help,

hahaha. Matagal ko na sinasabi sa yo yan di mo pa rin ginagawa hehehe....may kilala ka na nga eh heheheeh....

Advice ko rin, kung hindi mo kelangan ng inspiration, kelangan mo ng challenge, never think ikaw ang pinakalaos or pinakamagaling dahil there will always be a person who is much better or much worse then you. The thing is, determination lang talaga nagkakatalo yan. Kung talagang gusto mo magdrums habambuhay, make a way na yun lang ang gagawin mo. No other activities kahit na work or studies (ang sama ko pero it's true). Do you think all the great drummers in the states may sideline sila before they got famous? drumming lang talaga. Like sabi sa akin ni master jp, si donati ata yun eh. wala na syang ginawa habambuhay kundi magdrums. Pero iba kasi ang state natin dito sa pinas. You really have to work or study to be successful.

So, ang ma-advice ko sa yo is. Time Management din. If you want to really improve your craft, di not complain about not having the time. Isiksik mo sa oras mo. So what kung pagod ka? You have to sacrifice if you really want your skills to improve. No pain, no gain. To gain something, you have to sacrifice another. Ayan....

Aside from listening to new genre, attending EBs, watching live shows, one approach that I personally apply to my drumming is setting a goal.

Life without purpose is meaningless, same thing applies to drumming... As I have mentioned before in this forum, I consider drumming as my religion too- a ritual where I commune with my imaginary world where everything is possible, a theraphy for my soul, an offering to God, communication with the afterlife, a celebration of life, love and everything positive - a healing proccess - this made the drumming a source of inspiration, itself.

sabi nya sakin lifestyle daw ang pagdrums,
kung meron daw akong drummer na gs2 gayahin dapat tingnan ko yung buhay nya,
then i really got confused,
ngyon ko lang narealize na ang pagtugtug pala, being an art, requires so much passion,
kya ngayin inaalam ko talga kung ano kelangan para mag improve musically,

ako din pasingit na din sa thread na to. eh minsan pag wala kayo pambili ng gamit tapos nawawalan kayo ng gana mag practice o kaya parang nag iisip na tumigil sa pag drums? ano ba ginagawa o iniisip nyo? eh kasi wala ako gamit ngayon. yung gamit dito sa pinsan ko yun eh. eh wala na kinuha na niya..

yeah pare, i felt the same way too..hindi ko maapply yung mga gusto kong kanta..may time pa nga na nilaslas ko yung skin ng 1 tom dhil sa sobrang frustration ee..

2 months pa lang ako nagdadrumms nun...kahit simple pattern hindi ko magawa, enough na yun para itambak ko na drums ko nun, after some time, (mga 3 months.) naawa ako sa kit ko kc parang wala nang silbi,(FYI i treat my kit as my own brother,ahihihi) ayun, sinetupp ko ulit, hanggang may natutunan na ako..,

yung first song ko na natutunan ay narda..iniisip ko corny na ngaun yun pero yun yung pinaka 1st ko..tpos sumunod na hanggang dumami na pare, simple things lang masaya na ako ulit! kaya nung binenta ko na yung kit ko na yun nalungkot ako, pero promiz ko sa sarili ko bibilin ko yung kit ko na yun sa bumili para aalagaan ko..

ayun, drama noh? tpos may mga babae na na dumating, mejo nainspire ako ng onti kc para magpa sikat!

haha... inspiration ko ngaun ay yung tono nung last time ng typecast..! ahihihi! pti si lloyd! aka cavsdieagram inspiration ko na rin! haha

pero yun pare, kayang kaya yan..

hmmm i get frustrated din naman.. everyone gets to that point.. especially if bad trip yung jam. hehehe... and esp. kung bad day lng ng drumming mo

ive stoped drumming for 6 months coz of frustrations and stuff but waaaa balik parin ako
