7.25" fretboard radius action
« on: July 31, 2018, 05:28:47 AM »
Can this vintage radius be set up to low action? specially sa higher frets

been reading around the net and it seems that medyo hindi kasing baba ng mg 9" or compound radius na fretboard.

any thoughts?

thanks

Based on personal experience, this is true. It is almost impossible to get shredder-type low action on vintage radiused necks even if you were to bring the guitar to the top 2 luthiers/guitar techs in Manila. You could probably get it really low only if you do not utilise string bends.

Super low action? Definitely not.

Good for chords but 2 steps bending, nope! Fretboard's just too curved.

I have a love hate relationship with the 7.25 radius. I love how easy chord work is but it is a bitch when it frets out!
I'd rather be sharp than flat.

my fender CS strat has vintage frets , like titser_marco said , i also had a love and hate relationship with the radius.

no low action on 7.25 radius , you want to be versatile then switch to 9.5 radius.

i did get a new neck rather than modify my CS strat neck, now it has straight 12" radius. and its soo much better now.  :-D :-D

Hmm scallop the higher frets?

So goodluck  :)
