sirs, need a new house dog na hindi tipong bantay itsura pero matapang hehe, our dachshund just died recently(huhuhuhuh) at gusto ko sana kapalit, any suggestions? :-D:cry:

ang ganda ng malamute mo! d ba siya nahihirapan sa weather dito?So far ok naman may fan sya sa umaga tapos kapag mukang naiinitan parin sya binibigyan sya nang ice twice a day(specially ngayong mainit), every other day din ang ligo nya para mas presko, then sa gabi sa room ko sya natutulog para sabay na sa AC..hehehe
pag nakita niyo pa yung iba madami talaga...

sirs, need a new house dog na hindi tipong bantay itsura pero matapang hehe, our dachshund just died recently(huhuhuhuh) at gusto ko sana kapalit, any suggestions? :-DHmmm hindi tipong bantay pero matapang...pwede nga yung Chow kaso mejo alam na nang mga tao na may tapang yun eh...Bullmastiff naman malaki and nakaktakot, pero malambing yan, yung Bullmastiff ko before sobrang lambing pero nung may pumasok na mga kupz, talgang dinadambahan nya, BTW FYI ang strategy nang Bullmastiffs kapag magpro-protect ay hindi kagat, they're gonna pin the magnanakaws and the likes to the ground until they completely surrender, and yung bark nila ay naka-reserve for "special occasions" like yun nga may masamang nanloob sa inyo AFAIK...i think ang best bet mo is Akita IMO... :wink:

pansin nga namin ng kapatid ko (siya kasi amo nun) pag tinawag mo pangalan niya upo agad tapos well behave. pero kahit tuta pa lang matapang talaga yung breed niya. kumakahol sa ibang aso pag nasa labas tsaka di takot kaya yung isa naming aso alalay lang. tagged team nga tawag ko dun sa dalawa pag nagkataon na napaaway sila habang pinapasyal.

I am proud of my baby...spoiled 9month old dog...got her name from the first food she ate...born at the hotel where I work.
Fave food nya are crispy bacon, fried chicken and hotdog (believe it or not, she can identify the hotdog brands). "Spoiled Dog" tawag sa kanya ng mga taga Village. She sleeps with me at kelangan ko pa i-sanitize paw and skin, foot lotion must also be applied on her paw as per her request and fur spray before going to sleep cause she will be waiting for it, di ka nya tatantanang kalabitin kahit antok ka na. When she's hungry, kakalabitin ka nya para sumunod sa kanya papunta sa bowl nya. Hunger Strike ang drama nya kapag alam nyang aalis ka ng bahay. When I'm packing my things, hihilahin nya gamit ko palabas ng bag. She also loves music wag lang paulit-ulit, kakahulan nya ang amp. mo...lol Her tricks? whenever you command her to go outside....she will lay on her back and start making her "sinok" at di sya hihinto hanggat di mo sinasabing..."ok, baby...hindi na".

naging problem ko na rin to with my chows... at the end of the day kailangan matuto ung aso na huwag kumain ng kung ano ano... nung puppy pa ung dalawa kong chow naging pihikan sila sa pagkain nila vitality ang dog food nila nun, then I switched to canidae all life stages... after a while nagsawa rin sila, nirecommend ng friend ko na bigyan ko ng boiled pork liver. Boiled lang talaga and walang kahit anong spices kahit asin. after ma boil ung liver, i run it sa food processor without the "sabaw"... after nya sa food processor, eh di durog durog na un, binabalik ko ung sabaw/"stock". I put about 2 tablespoons of the liver sa kibbles (dry dogfood) ng aso and add din some stock, aun simot sarap. works everytime. Ngayon Go Natural Salmon and Oatmeal ang pinapakain ko sa kanila, almost a year ko na rin binibigay yun sa kanila and hindi sila nagsasawa, a 13.5 kilo bag costs 2050, it lasts about a month for my 2 two year old chow chows.
I was almost tempted din to give nalang the tasty table food we have, I know they'd eat it and all will be fine today, but god knows what effects it'll have on them tomorrow :-D, better safe than sorry.
Mrs Fields, I'd recommend Go Natural for your dog, its expensive yeah but its actually cheaper than lets say eaukanuba or pedigree hehehe... heres the analysis, eukanuba 18kilo costs about 2.5k and you feed a 20kilo dog about 4-5 cups a day, Go Natural 13.5kilos costs 2k, and you feed 1.5-2 cups a day for a 20kilo dog :-D.
The more meat you feed your dog, the more smelly their poop will be hehehe
Last, kung talagang pihikan ung dog mo sa pagkain, go Cold Turkey :-D it sounds mean really but it'll teach your pooch that there is a certain time he/she can eat. Here's how to do it and how I did it: Offer your dog some dog food (dry kibbles/pellets), if he/she doesnt finish it in 20minutes, take out the bowl... come next feeding time, offer him/her the same feed, repeat until the dog eats the dog food. No dog will let himself go hungry, sooner or later he will learn that if he doesnt eat what you offer him, he'll go hungry hehehe. It may sound mean but you're actually doing your dog a favor... a Dog needs a set of rules to live by, they need to work for their food just like they did in the wild. I do this naman by issuing a command before they get their bowl :-D a simple "sit" will do. This way they live a fuller life. Oh yeah a dog is a dog not a child :-D

yeah, my honey told me that I'm spoiling my dog too much though as I have mentioned she is an aspin. i wonder kung bakit kakaiba sya sa mga local breeds na magana kumain maybe it's because how i treated her when she was still a puppy. malamang kasalan ko rin talga, i work in a hotel where i have lots of variety of foods na inuuwi ko sa kanya, i find my peace of mind kapag kita kong nasasarapan sya. chicken cordon bleu, hungarian sausage, beef strogannof (not sure of the spelling) etc. ang ibinibigay ko sa kanya... anyway, that's my food share...free naman yun kaya i didn't worry about it's price.
i am actually applying now the Cold Turkey that you have mentioned. i read it through some site also, positive reinforcement as they say. yes, it works thus, my baby este my dog :-) :| pala keeps on making "kalabit" on me asking for her food kapag tinaas ko na sa mesa pero kapag binaba ko na bowl nya...she won't eat naman... i guess, kulang pa training ko sa kanya.i'll try to have a harder heart for her para di na sya masyado maarte at pihikan sana it's not too late.
i'll try to give her canned dog foods that costs Php100++, two or three spoon of it will do (i wish :-)) and blended liver puree (either chicken liver or pork can do?) halo ko nalang sa rice as other dog lovers are suggesting. this is my first time to own a dog kaya medyo nangangapa pa ako... actually, testing last sana to cause i'm planning to buy a dog with breed like chow-chow or golden retriever or labrador good thing i never treated my aspin as askal... she has completed all her vaccines, pinapavet ko rin sya kaya yun, sya na ata ang pinaka maarteng aspin sa buong Philippines :lol: :lol: :lol:
btw, i also ask vet for some appetite booster vitamins for her, it's a little costly Php 400++ per table but doc. recommended some alternative/ generic vitamins for my adult dog. vet said tiki-tiki (vitamins for babies) for puppies age 0-8 months will be a better alternative and immune system booster unfortunately, i learned it late. my baby is now an adult dog, it doesn't apply to her.

like how cold? aspins are very resilient however judging by their coats, Id say they're not meant to stay on very cold environments. Remember aspins are native dogs, that are adapted to our tropical climate. They may/can survive cold weather but they wont be comfortable i think :-D

Our sweet baby Sophie passed away last Saturday. She was barely 20 mos. old pa lang. Now I know the true meaning of Black Saturday...
Kami ng wife ko ang nag-alaga sa baby namin and trato namin parang bunso na ng pamilya. Sobrang sakit. Hanggang ngayon, iyak ng iyak pa rin kaming mag-asawa.
Pinakamasaklap, nagkasakit siya Good Friday late afternoon - walang pet clinic or vet na bukas at mapuntahan. Sumuka once, humina, and ayaw uminom ng tubig o kumain... By Sat. morning malala na, and didn't last the day sa vet. Nung binisita namin ng 2pm, naka coma na. Parang hinintay lang kami dumating and she expired habang hawak-hawak and kausap namin.
We don't even know ano kinamatay... daming possibility sabi ng vet. pwedeng heat stroke and complications from dehydration. pwedeng infection. pwede raw na kagat ng ahas o daga o pusa, dahil meron siyang nakitang puncture marks sa gilagid.
I don't know how to get over her. Siya ang unang pet puppy namin and minahal namin ng todo-todo. She lighted our home, our lives, and our hearts with joy and love. Naging mas-close kaming mag-asawa and mga anak dahil sa kaniya. She was our angel. I can't understand why God took her away.

Hi guys. I don't know if it is okay to post it here, since i dont want to make a new thread for this.
I recently have two dogs. One pomeranian and one askal (jordan) but looks like old english sheepdog (?). Anyway, itong si jordan, gustong gusto ko talaga. Magandang bantay talaga. kaso, medyo matanda na. Tska may sumpong to. Okay sya, malambing. Pero pagdating sa pagkain, talagang patayan kung patayan. Anyway, I think normal lang naman sa aso to. Here's the problem. Wala na kaming space sa bahay para sa kanya. At hindi rin naman namin sya mapa-injectionan dahil na-trauma na to sa injection (one time, papa-injectionan ko dapat sya anti-rabies sa barangay, e ako pa ang nainjectionan. kinagat ba naman ako. pano, hindi rin naman nakatakip yung bibig nya, e naka ipit lang yung legs ko sa ulo nya tapos may nagiinjection sa likod). so hindi na namin mapakawalan although safe naman sya, walang rabies. Ang concern ko lang naman, saan kaya sya pwedeng ibigay? yung safe sya. yung hindi sya gagawing puluts. Kasi labs ko talaga to, kaso lang, medyo masikip na sa bahay. Tska hindi na rin mapaliguan ni erpats kasi minsan daw bad mood. Pero kaya naman ni ermats paliguan. Meron bang lugar kung saan pwede ko syang ibigay o parang ipa-ampon ba?
Sorry if it sounds like im abandoning him. Medyo hindi na rin kasi namin maalagaan eh..
thanks paeng. meron ngang tinatali pero nalimutan kong lagyan :lol: e yung ibang aso naman dun, hindi pumalag nung ininjectionan e. yung sakin lang talaga. nagka-trauma na nga kasi to. dati nung ininjectionan namin, sa sobrang galit nya, tinali namin yung ulo (parang nakaipit sa gate) para lang mainjectionan kasi may sakit sya noon. e pag hindi tinali, kahol ng kahol at parang kakainin ka. haha :-D

Sorry for your loss. We learned the hard way, that our pets need to be monitored more often during the hot summer season. And kaunting change lang sa condition or behavior nila, dala na kaagad sa vet.

Give your pug Shi Lin Tong tablets. You can buy this at any Chinese drug store. I take it regularly and my vet has used it on a number of his patients with success. Just consult your vet regarding the proper dosage.

Maybe, pagupitan mo muna ng "semi-cal" para mas madali pasadahan yung mga kuto sa katawan nila. Tapos use a product like Frontline which seems to work ok, kaya lang mahal. Flea collars are only effective near the neck area.

Ah, thank you po, kuha ko na po. Nagtataka lang po ako, bat yung labrador nung kapitbahay namin pati nung gf ko hindi sila palatahol at the same time nakakulong lang sila. Wala po silang obedience training. Napanood nyo ba yun episode ng Matanglawin ni Kuya Kim last last week? I think it was 16th of May. I have the same sentiments with the lady, who owns tons of dogs, about people na sinasaktan, pinapatay at kinakain ang mga aso. Sabi ng ale, yun mga taong nananakit ng hayop, specially ng mga aso, ay walang bait sa sarili at sa kapwa nila. IMO, dogs have the purest unconditional love ever for the human being.
Hindi ko napanood e. Di kasi ako mahilig manood ng TV. Hehehe.Isang napakalungkot na realidad. Yun mga taong ganon, mas masahol pa sila sa hayop.
Pero totoo yan. Actually kasama ko sa kwarto ko yung aso ko. Talagang mararamdaman mo kung pano sila magmahal lalo na pag ganito katulad saken yung sitwasyon. Hindi natutulog yang chow ko hangga't di ako dumadating gusto niya sabay kame matutulog. Tapos umiiyak daw lagi kapag dun ako natulog sa bahay ng gf ko. Madalas kasi akala ng iba may pagkamabangis ang aso pag di ka kilala pero madali namang magpakilala sa aso. Yung iba kasi nauunahan lang ng takot or minsan lalo pang ginagalit yung aso. Pero may mas malala pa dyan sa napanood mo. Nakalimutan ko yung title nung show e... basta documentary siya (yung mga palabas pag gabi like reporter's notebook, etc.) about sa mga aso na pinapatay dito sa Pinas. Sobrang brutal ng ginagawa sa kanila. Dinadala sila sa isang chamber sabay sabay tapos papatayin sila sa pamamagitan ng usok ng tambutso ng jeep. Yung tambutso nakakonekta dun sa chamber tapos i-rerev lang ng i-rerev. Maririnig mo talaga yung mga ungol ng aso dahil di naman agad agad sila mamamatay dun talagang mahihirapan muna sila. Iyak nga gf ko nung napanood yun e. Pero actually, ginagawa din daw sa Japan yun sabi ng gf ko para maminimize yung population ng dogs pero hindi sa ganoong paraan. Sa Japan daw talagang peaceful yung pagkamatay nung aso, hindi sila nahihirapan.

thanks guys! she came back home 4 days after going to the vet. badtrip, naglagay ng lason yung kabilang bahay, ewan ko lang kung para saan, sa daga kaya? pero grabe, puro patay na pusa na yung nasa kalsada namin, nadamay pa yung minamahal naming aso. kainis!
she seems to be getting better naman, unti-unti na ulit nagiging makulit at energetic like before pero hindi pa 100%. grrrr, may malupit nakong galit sa kapitbahay namin!

hirap magwalis nun. nakakawala naman ng stress yung mga aso pag nakita mo. kaya sobra akong nanghinayang nung namatay yun at ang mahal ng aso na yun. ayaw kasi ni mami ilagay sa cage naawa daw sya kaya everyday umiikot sya dito sa garden. minsan nakakalabas pa ng bahay nakikisalamuha sa askal haha. :D

yeah mahal talaga and high maintenance pa. favorite breed ko ang husky pero we can't get one kasi walang space dito sa bahay and they do need a lot of space. they also need to be in cold places and sabi ng friend ko na may husky dapat daw siya ilagay sa room na may aircon so magastos talaga sa kuryente. :|ah sir actually breeder ako ng husky, its not really a high maintenance dog, if you want to have a show type dog thats the only time you have to spend some more, but for its maintenance 2-5 cups of dog food a day for this dog is enough for the whole day and breaking it down it will take you roughly 1 3/4 cups per meal if 3x fed but they will have 2 cups x 2 a day is also enough for them to have a good body structure. aircon? not really if you want to have a fluffy coat thats the only time to have an aircon for me,an electricfan and Ice for there water dish is good enough, actually fan is not needed if the air is not that humid as long as clean water is there and to add aan info, huskies have double coats, one is protection from heat and cold (serves as insulators) and the other one for parasites. Maxi coat(supplement) is helpful to have beautiful coat, the real maintenance here is time, you have to have enough time for exercise, this kind of dog needs a lot of exercise for them to grow healthy,easy to train, and prevent bone deficiencies. Dont believe in rumors, better have a research.

well it's not actually rumors but that's what a friend of mine (who's also a breeder) told me. I think the reason kung bakit palage nasa aircon ang husky nila is hindi kaya ng humidity dito sa amin. mainit kasi dito sa amin eh and maybe it's bad for them.like what i've said their coats has two layers, one as insulators, two as parasite protection. A husky can withstand a hot and cold temperature, but exercising a husky in a humid place is a no no, they might have stroke.

my cousin bought a [gooey brown stuff] there, with papers and all, and the dog is 2 years old now and is strong, never been sick..
siguro pili nalang ng healthy dog dun.. medyo marami kasing pets run kaya siguro di mashadong naaalagaan lahat..
i guess swertihan lang talaga. first time kasi namin ni GF pumunta dun last week and we almost went home with a new dog. buti na lang wala akong dalang cash noon.

Project ko kasing mag breed at pasikatin ang breed na to dito sa Pinas eh...neopoplitan? i think sa ngayon ala pa. mashado kasing mahirap alagaan kasi it needs a lot of space, second dahil imported line to sa ibang bansa pa kukuha ang breeders to have a good breed at mayayaman lang nakaka avail kasi before i have a friend selling neomastiffs around 70-100k lang naman hehehe

akitas are great dogs but I wouldn't recommend one if you have small kids in the house. akitas are very territorial kasi eh and nandun talaga yung guard dog instincts nila.
me on the other hand, I want to add an American Bully to the family pero wala nang space sa bahay. :cry:

btw may labrador, and japanese spitz kami dati pa kaso namatay na. and now naun lang ulit kami nag kaaso. kabibili lang namin ng shih tzu. and yorkshire terrier sana kaso dina namin kinuha yung yorkie pangit eh halatang hatala na may mix. hanap nalang ulit or baka pomeranian nalang. laki kasi eh ayaw na ng parents ko husky sana eh <_<

Yung ibang kakilala ko, they put their dogs sa room na kulong and hindi gano naabot ng sound ng ulan (any way to muffle the sound). Then there's Thundershirt. Hmm sa shih tzus ko,, the first pup that came out was punggok,, smallest in the litter,, 2nd was triangle,, largest. Until now(3 months na sila) ... ganun pa din order ng growth nila.

I have question guy's at sa mga naka pag breed na, first time kopalang kasi eh, kung APRIL 18, 2012 si madz pinanganak kelan ang eksaktong heat niya? first time palang kasi siyang mai-stud, can someone tell me the process at sign na malapit na siyang magka mens. The vet told me na silent type pala siya na belgian.

Yes bro Ralph... i think ive been loving the breed ever since i adopted Mini. They are great guard dogs but when I go for walks at the park... they are as meek as lambs. The great Dane truly is a great companion :) Life is always better with dogs haha

Beagle po yan? I just bought a pair of beagle pups (boy & girl) magkapatid sila for a very cheap price 4k lang dalawa na. Family friend din namin kasi then tinatamad na siya mag alaga pati yung Nanay binenta niya na for about 5k lang.
Sana mag-enjoy ako alagaan yung 2 pups Last November yung Birthday nila.

kaso sobrang depress ako now. sinaksakan namin ng 5 in 1 vaccine yung 2 6weeks old shih tzu namin nung martes. then kinabukasan namatay yung isa tapos now mahina na rin yung isa weird :cry: dalhin ko sa vet yung remaining pups bukas. :-(

all my shih tzu pups died :( yeah yun nga sabi ng vet na di kinaya ng pups yung vaccine, madami pa daw dapat chinecheck at kinoconsider before saksakan ng vaccine.Sorry for your loss. It must have been hard.
lesson learned di na ko mag titipid. sa vet ko na papa vaccine mga pups next time.
yeah kahit sino kaya mag saksak ng vaccine pero may mga test pa pala hindi basta basta saksak lang. pero masigla naman kasi yung pups bago saksakan, baka rare cases din daw na nag ka allergy or adverse effect sa vaccine..

Pa-advice naman po..meron akong chihuahua, mga 1 year old na din. ok naman cya, hidi naninira ng gamit, nagngangat ngat, malambing,etc..
Sa loob ng bahay namin nagsstay and she's free to roam around sa kitchen at sala.
Ang problema ko po ay tuwing may nalabas sa bahay sasabayan din nya ng labas ng pagkabilis bilis, tapos magtatakbo hanggang sa kalsada at ayaw pahuli.
Pano ko po kaya madidisiplina yung aso ko na yun na magstay lang sa premises namin. Nakakatakot kasi na baka one time makatakbo tapos masagasaan or maaway ng ibang aso eh angliit liit pa naman nya tapos hindi sya natatakot sa malaking aso, sya pa mismo ang nalapit. :-\

I grew up with dogs sa bahay namin sa probinsiya, our basset hound sleeps in our room, pero free roaming siya pag day time sa backyard, same with our other dogs, so poop and pee aren't really problems. I now live in an apartment in Pasig and niregaluhan ako ng doggie, walang bakuran dito. How do I know pag mawiwi na siya or mapupupu? Or how can I train her to pee on the rags I purposely leave on the floor for her to pee on? Tas ang hyper niya sobra, dalas din mag play-bite kaso since pino ngipin nya at maliit medyo masakit. Salamat po sa sasagot ^-^

Kung tatamlay tamlay siguro wag muna. pero kung masigla naman, at yun lang yellow thingies lang yung problema niya, and sa tingin mo ikagiginhawa nya yung pagligo, go for it! haha. Magready ka lang ng tuwalya na pantuyo (at least 2) at saka blower, saka warm water pampaligo mo. Tas bimpo bimpohan mo kasi baka mabigla siya eh. Yung sa akin lang e based from experience, sa nakikita ko sa father ko. Right now we have 5 dogs and 7 cats sa bahay hehe. :-D

Meron kami 2 months old na pug, pauwi kami province ni ermat ngayong long weekend and iniisip ko kung ok lang ba ibyahe yun? Sabi nung vet. Baka daw mastress, kaya iwan nalang daw, kaso wala ako mapapagiwanan nun. Pag nasa sasakyan naman siya ok naman siya, di ko lang sure pag long drives.

Baby pa yan eh, pag 3 months na siguro saka palakasin mo muna resistensya nya. Nangangati ba siya? Magana ba kumaen? Kung di ka elibs dun sa vet, wag mahihiyang magtanong, kung may ritemed ba nito! hahaha charot! Yung basset namin dati nagka mange pero iba naman ung dyan pero 2-3 months ata siya nun, tas kinakaskasan namin ng tatay ko ng madre de cacao hehe. Endin, sarcoptic mange pala, na bumabaon sa balat kaya di kinaya nung madre de cacao.
Try mo lagyan ng tea tree oil kung fungal or yeast infection yan.
Baon ka maraming tissue. Naglalaway ang aso pag nahihilo.

Sa experience ko, 3 months yung shih tzu ko binyahe ko from (malapet lang naman) UP diliman to Pasig, kaso nasa pet carrier, dun siya naistress kasi kakalog kalog saka wala siyang nakikitang tao. Mas okay siya pag sa lap lang kasi less yung impact nung alog alog saka nakikita nya yung master nya. Kaya naman sa sasakyan eh, mag stop over na lang siguro every now and then. Ilang oras ba byahe? Lagyan mo din diaper. Baon ka mga lima hehe. Daan ba kayo SLEX or NLEX, huminto hinto na lang siguro kayo for fresh air and pooping and wiwi.
Yung Kuya ko naman 2 months ata yung basset hound niya, nilagay niya sa bag(pero nakabukas syempre), tas bus from Cubao to Bulacan, hehe, ayun mag 3 years old na ung aso namin hehe.
Gusto ko din iuwi sa province tong shih tzu ko, kasi marami siyang kalarong dogs dun sa min eh hehe.
Malaway naman talaga to kahit hindi hilo haha.
Sige isama ko nalang to, kesa naman mamatay sa gutom ng 3 days, irisk ko na yung stress. Labo kasi nung vet. eh haha nasa isip ko kasi bakit yung mga askals walang ganung arte.

Nagfollowup kame sa vet kase walang improvement. Naubos na balahibo. Para nang daga yun tuta namin. Anyway, nagskin scrape na at nakitang Sarcoptic mange yun sakit ng aso namin. Yun unang diagnosis kse Demodectic mange (puppy mange) lang eh mas malala para yun sakit nya. Di muna sya ininjectionan ng Ivermectin kase masyado pa bata. Nag spot on treatment na lang sya ng Advocate. Gusto na namin sya gumaling agad at gumabda ang fur. :-(

By the way, all black pala coat nya. Yung unang shampoo nya, pansin namin nagdidiscolor yung coat nya medyo nagiging medyo dark brown yung shade. Pero sure naman ako black talaga coat nya hehe dinaman yung tipong dinye lang yung kulay para masabing rare yung color.
Anyway, napabili nako new shampoo. wala ko makita nun Wahl na brand eh. PEPEKARNO nabili ko, for red/tan coat daw kasi dark color nun coat nun puppy ko. eto ren daw gamit ng Animal House pag naggugroom sila. subukan ko lang muna hehe sana
