Hey man, advice ko sayo is go for the standard setup (Bass strings on top, Treble below) I am a lefty too, I started out playing guitar since 14 that time there's no available guitar for lefties, so I'm playing a right handed guitar or a Jimi Hendrix standard setup (Bass string below, treble on top) for some reason hindi ko binaliktad, but I managed to play flawlessly and amaze my friends, the only thing is, I'm an old school metal type of guitarist, and ang hirap gawin yung basic fundamentals of metal so I decided to go for standard setup, so when I did, I bought a lefty guitar (Dean ML) I'm back to basics and 4 years after im playing my favorite tunes, with less struggling, I'm 34 now and I'm aiming to upgrade to a more higher end guitar since yung Dean ML is good for beginners like me
If comfortable ka with the awkward setup why not diba? But if you want to go further and push yourself more, I suggest start with the right tools and proper way, and one thing I'm still good in playing the awkward setup, especially when doing some old Hendrix licks or makahiram ng acoustic and my friends want me to play some acoustic songs, hope this helps
