odd size cymbals?
« on: November 30, 2006, 03:15:22 PM »

do you prefer the stnadard size or odd sizes?

well lately i've noticed that i've been getting a lot of inquiries on odd sizes cymbals such as 15 and 17 crashes size 7 splashes, and whenever i check our sabian sales report i saw a tremendous movement on our odd size cymbals..

well im really a size 18 crash lover but lately ive been enjoyin using my size 19 virgil donati saturation crashes..

so do you think the odd sizes cymbals are now a trend and we should order more of this?...any suggestions will help a lot..cheers...

p.s.

mike portnoy's signature odd size max splashes will be included on our next sabian shipment...

for me, the sound matters more than the size . . . it just so happen lang siguro na i found some of my preferred cymbal sounds in odd sizes: 21 for ride, 17-19 for crashes and 13 for hats, i never really placed particular attention to sizes nor do i limit myself to just one brand or series of cymbals, although i have a fetish for large crashes due to their sustain.

Let the sales figures move you. Get more 17's and 19's. 18's are good too. I'm eyeing a 17 med AA for Christmas :)

Ako rin, may hilig sa odd sizes. Parang tama lang sustain at decay na ewan. Basta OC ako.

Gusto ko rin ng 17" na crash. (HHXplosion, Medium Thin K, Medium Thin A)

I like larger diameters kasi lower pitch. 16s are too high. 18s are just right.

@Gep...  Onga no, medium thin. I tried a medium 17" AA sa PP Mega, and I thought that it felt too thick, I don't know why. It felt heavy and parang ang bagal ng response. Maybe I should start considering medium thins. Yak, parang sanitary pad. Wala bang with wings?

ako rin, pagdating sa crashes mas gusto ko odd sizes. 17" - 19" regardless of cymbal brand. iba kasi yung response nila para sa akin. but still, i'm in love with my 16"crash, yun, may wings.. heheh.. jk

Pero wala pa rin tatalo sa pagka-odd size ng hybrids ko... hehehe 13 1/4"
Mahirap lang i-mix/match to my other hi hats!

I'd recommend the HHX Evolutions...ANYTIME!  8-)

Well of course...to someone who would want that kind of sound and response.

I think I've gotten to a point that I prefer it now to my 15" K Custom Crash (Which is my right side crash when I use my full set-up.

hahaha...now which size to buy....another 16"?....17"? hahaha...

I like larger diameters kasi lower pitch. 16s are too high. 18s are just right.

The Rocktagon Crashes are available in 16" and 18" sizes.  The Rocktagon Splash is offered only in 10" size.

Its sizes are not odd.

hey gep..we have the hhxplosion onstock already in sizes 17 and 19..well you might want to consider also the 17 hhx evolution or 17 virgil donati crash and 17 vault crashcif you want something less expensive than the hhxplosion crashes..ciao
