Anyway, we A/Bd it with a MIA Trad Tele.  The G&L had more bite.

Tried a few of ASAT Bluesboys in Sam Ash Hollywood early this year.  Was very tempted to buy it.  Nice guitars.  An added bonus is that all the guitars get a Plek job from the factory.  Here's a picture of a nice one.

Anyway, we A/Bd it with a MIA Trad Tele.  The G&L had more bite.

Yah. G&L's pickups seems hotter, pero quiet... gives it more twayng. Sounds more modern to me. When unplugged, the body seems to resonate the notes clearer. Neck profile feels faster than a Tele (flatter ba ang radius?), pero something that's easy to get used to if sobrang sanay ka na sa Tele neck.

Drawback... the string tree placement does not allow you to do RATM's "Bullet in your Head" properly (diba Dodj? Haha).

Yung Strat... parang mas trip ko pa rin ang MIJ Fender Strats. Brighter and clearer yung G&L, pero in effect parang numipis (o well, I never liked Strats anyways, haha).

I think you're referring to "Freedom", the part where Tom Morello plucks the strings past the nut in the headstock for that high-pitched "harp" sound.  Unfortunately, the G&L has a different headstock design, string tree placed differently, and the neck is more recessed, KAYA IBA ANG NOTES PAG PLUCK DUN.

My G&L S-500 is twangier in general.  Must be the pickups.  Not to mention that the headstocks are recessed much lower than Fenders, which explains why there is more sustain.  Mine is an ash body/maple over maple neck which might be another reason for the twangier sound.

Advertising.  Also, him saying "the best instruments I have ever made" is still not the same as if he actually said that he considers his G&Ls to be better than what he built at Fender.

the "more bite" could be attributed to its beautiful ash body (tulo laway ko Bro jan sa look ng Tele mo!)...compared to the american trad that has a poplar body.

E si Fender mismo ang may ari ng G&L e. Maganda yun for sure. Sabi daw nila, kung gusto nyo daw talaga ng tunay na ultimate Leo Fender design na mas mura , G&L daw bilhin nyo eh. Ano say nyo? Mura lang naman. Meron nga G&L S-500 na $600, tapos mas maganda pa daw sa high-end Fender Strat. May nag demo sa youtube nun eh. Kung gusto nyo check ,eto link.

Maganda craftsmanship ng G&L. Better than Fender...and Tribute...better than Squiern my opinion.

But, like Fender...hit and miss ang tunog.
