yeah i got ur point. eh anung mgagawa nten kun gus2 nila bimili d b?.. wala n tyo pakialam kun gus2 ng consumer bilhin un kaht panget pra sa sarili nten. my point is learn to respect others opinion. be professional ika nga.. kun di nten trip e d bgyan lng nten sila ng options pero wag nten sabihin n panget agad. pede naman nteng sabhin n "mas ok ang zbt,b8," pero un sasabihin agad n panget ang isang item eh parang niloko mu din sarili mu.eh kasi ginamit mu rin sya before.. db?..  :-)  and one thing, im not into arguing im just sharing my opinion and sana learn how to RESPECT if u wana be respected.. and my old planet z is made from brass. ^_^  d nten tlga masisisi pg ATAT sila. its their choice not ours. and hindi ako ng waste ng money nun nabili ko un before because dun ako ng evolve at natuto..

kung gusto mo sila, eh di good for you. kaso meron pa ring better choice.

e d panget syo.. ^_^  kaya ginawa ang mga cymbals n yan na panget s tingin mu coz it has a purpose.. la n tyo pakealam kun trip nila yan. we,.. experienced drummers will serve as a guide not as a judge.. if sa sound wise ala tlga laban yan mga entry level pero kun yan lng kaya nila s budget at gus2ng gus2 n nila mgkaron ng isang set for experience of decent cymbals eh its their choice.. we just give them some more options and not bang on the ground those entry level sets.. end of these story.. ^_^

1. bad sounding cymbals will never sound good. start with good sounding cymbals.
2. kung gusto mo lang maexperience yung cymbal, dont buy it. beg, borrow, rent from somebody else so you avoid unnecessary spending
3. you dont have to start with entry level stuff. why short change yourself? may kasama naman sigurong cymbals yung kit na binili mo, e di gamitin mo muna sila tapos ang bilin mo e yung kulang pero yung maganda. nung studyante din ako 1 cymbal per year lang nabibili ko kasi gusto ko high end agad. ok lang kahit matagal, its all worth the wait. took me 5 years to finally complete my first setup: hihat, ride, 2 crashes and a splash. mas mabilis ka naman makakabuo ng setup ngayon kasi maraming mura na maganda (stagg, istanbul, diril) at may philmusic na maraming nagbebenta ng 2nd hand high end cymbals.
4. you dont have to buy brand new. kung pang budget meals ka lang, mag 2nd hand na high end ka na lang.

for the sake of being on topic: i've been lucky to use them all and my vote goes to sabian solar because the sound it produces sucks so much less than the others hehehe. planet z puro tinis. meinl hcs medyo ok kesa planet z kasi matino yung crash at ride. paiste 101 parang mga china ang tunog ng lahat ng model. sabian solar medyo malapit sa tunay na cymbal...bili kayo nung solar splash hahaha nung wala pang stagg, panalong panalo yung solar splash for 1200.

hahahaha. depends pa rn s consumer. d naman lahat ng drummer e MAYAMAN.. ^_^  pero yeah high end cymbals are the BEST but how about some who really needs a SET but dont have enough money to purchase high ends??.. kelan pa sila mkakaipon? pag na frustrate n sila mgdrums?.. sympre ang pagiipon nwawala rin, dhil for example u will be needing the money for somethin else more important, e d ipon na naman ng money to buy those high ends.hanggang d n sila nkabili.. well these entry levels may SUCK but it is a starting point for those who are on a tight budget just to feel a real cymbal even if its an entry level ONLY.. just my opinion.. ^_^ no offense.. lam ko n, cguro for those who are RICH lets lend some of our high ends. hehehe. ^_^ no offense ulit. ^_^

its a good argument...no offenses need be taken. then again, perhaps if nobody tries to argue or disagree with the "poor kami, cheap cymbal lang kaya namin" attitude then it will have a bad effect on the future newbies who will definitely start reading about this thread for their first cymbal purchase.

this thread doesnt have to continue with the poor vs rich kind of thing...its all about practical spending and its all about prioritizing. heck, i will even dare say that the guys who say they are poor that buy cheap stuff now and then upgrade later are in a way "richer" than the same poor guy who skips the upgrade and aims for the best stuff he can afford now. why? because the first poor guy spends twice and pays more than the smarter poor dude who waited...no not waited but worked (sacrificing your baon, summer jobs) to get something he knows he's worth.

borrowing good cymbals from both rich or poor drummers? may thread na nito e at ang concensus e hindi sila magpapahiram ng mga "mahal" nilang cymbal. "mahal" can mean 2 things for us pinoys: expensive and love. if you bought your cymbals and knowing/experiencing some kind of sacrifice/s you will definitely know what "mahal" is and it is not the amount you paid.

"ipon ka tapos magagamit mo sa iba" its called prioritizing. it sucks because you just dont have enough but its the right thing to do. if you are poor then why do need a set? dont you have other more important priorities to take care of? cymbals are not one of life's necessities and should be treated more as an investment. nasabi ko lang investment kasi kung talagang nagipit ka na naman, mas mahal mo maibebenta yung good cymbal kesa sa cheap cymbal.

ok - financial capability; cymbal cost, brand and quality level aside...lets talk about drumming and technique.

1. cheap cymbals teaches you nothing about technique. they sound bad so you bash em to hell with no regard to finesse because you want to squeeze any sound you can get out of them. with good cymbals you actually pay more attention to your technique, they open up easily so there is no need to bash them (unless you really like to). - *personal experience: yes i started with good cymbals and i've never broken a stick during playing (i did break a stick once during practice but there was a crack already when i bought it so it doesnt count). i've never deformed or cracked a cymbal, i've never dented a head so i must have good technique right? i wish it were true but i guess i just learned how to make my instrument speak early on because i got used to good sounding equipment*
2. good cymbals sound good, good sounds inspire you to play and practice more.

sabian solar ride has nice ride and hats, yung crash panget as in.
 :-)

Ako din, ganyan din masasabi ko sa Solar ok yung ride and crash nya(tska chinese and splash na din)
But anyway, discontinue na ang Solar for your information ang pumalit na ay SBR series at mas ok na sya compare sa Solar. Dadating sila dito mga 2nd quarter of this year. For the price? Hindi pa final but definitely hindi naman lalayo sa Solar cymbals. :-)
