Going there and going home really dampened my mood. I had to drive five hours to get there through heavy traffic. Not that I'm crying over it, but I missed Aiza's set. lol... I did miss Vultures, though. Tapos pagdating dun, it was tough to make it to our seats, which people already stood on by the time we made it.

Great performance. I don't regret watching it, but I don't want to go through that again anytime soon. Good thing I'm not crazy about Adam Lambert, lol...

Not sure if there will be a next time for John Mayer. Maybe when he's old and washed up, just like all these guys who were big in the 70's that regularly have shows at the Araneta Coliseum... Anyway, the point is, I was at the Silver section and beside me and my girlfriend were three girls who came all the way from Malaysia to watch the concert. They probably thought the Philippines was to them as he's gonna get. Seeing how much fun they had the whole time, it was probably money well spent.

Well worth the money :-D As in...

Grabe, this was one of those days I wish I had a zoom Q3!!!! hehe

The show was awesome. awe...some!

I'm not too critical about what he did or didn't play. However, I felt bad he didn't do those "jams" we could always see on his DVDs and on youtube. He didn't really break out that much. But all in all, worth everything. I never thought about the money spent or the rain. Everything was just... ahhhhhhh (relaxed and content) hehe

Did any of you guys buy those 500 peso Battle Studies tour picks the PAs were selling? pinatulan ko kasi wala namang merch that were being sold. minsan lang to linubos ko na hehe

Rene Martinez:

I had an AMAZING time despite the rains, the umbrellas and the 2nd hand smoke.

John, thanks for the performance that's worth the wait.. mejo bitin, but that will do for now..

nice pics meng! Share rin ako some later ... he had three amps with him for his mloasses thick tone... i think they were (from the left) a dumble, a two rock, and a blackface bandmaster :)

Awesome tone, although yung acoustic tone nya manipis kesa sa expected ko (malamang dahil sa sound system), sayang wala si Pino and Steve - was hoping for some Trio action!

Really Enjoyed it!

Andun ako sa Gold  :-D

High points for me: Ain't no Sunshine, Vultures, Gravity, tsaka yung mga ukelele songs niya.
I agree it was too short.

looking back, years ago when Dale & I started this thread.. we all just post stuff about John and talk about stuff about him. i even had a few bad exchange of words on the other thread where they were making fun of the guy, i can say i am truly a fan.

now, he came to Manila! parang kailan lang we talked about "what if he goes here?", and he did. so while he was playing vultures it wasn't sinking in that nasa harap ko na si Mayer! specially when he did the riff before the song, when the lights were out but the band was coming in one by one, and he stroke his golden guitar... grabe, my wife was telling me, "pa, ayan na siya!"

it was worth the wait and every centavo.. truly a lifetime's memory worth.

BTW, he used 11 guitars:

his golden Strat
his Relic Strat
his Monterey Stat
his 335
his Mini-humbuckered Tele
one Acoustic (drop D)
one Signature Acoustic
a ukulele
his Jeff Beck guitar (with the broken heart)
his vintage Gibson SG
and
a Rick Turner guitar

Funny, from where I was standing, it didn't look like a ukulele at all but an undersized classical. Had 6 strings on it, too.

I agree! Was it? A Ukelele even though it had six nylon strings? I've never seen one before!

I can now RIP when i grow old because i got to see one of the 2 John's (Mayer and Lennon) that I've Idolized my whole and 1/3 of my life.

WOHOO!!! IT FELT LIKE A DREAM SEEING HIM SO CLOSE! Ni hindi ako tumitingin sa Big screen sa lapit ko.. My GOLD tickets were closer than half of the VIP section! The only thing that seperated me from the VIP crowd was a steel fence! Thank you LORD sa bait mo na nabigyan ako ng GORGEOUS SEATS!!
