xp ka nalang muna.. kasi karamihan mga lumang software natakbo lang sa mababang O.S. pero if makakita ka ng patch then its your turn to upgrade it to vista. research kalang sa interntet kung yung mga program mo eh merong patch to ran at a upgraded O.S. like vista..

directX 10 solid sa games... vista lang meron...

if you're a graphic artis or web designer or the likes... pag labas ng adobe cs4 sa end of the month 64bit na siya... better prep up your pc and use vista... the adobe suite will be one monster of a suite! imaginin ninyo kung naka 8 gigs of ram kayo... sobrang tulin ng adobe!  or kahit 4 gigs lang matulin padin...

btw be sure to get the vista 64bit...

if you won't use din naman CS4 and di din kayo nag ge-games di xp muna kayo... pati if your computer can't handle the specs... xp nalang muna...

Im running vista on my old pc, 1.8 Ghz, 1024MB RAM, 128 ATI GC, 80 GB of HDD, with aero enabled and no problem whatsoever.  I even have dota, halo, cakewalk and CS3 installed all performing without a glitch.  Maybe it's just me but i feel this computer's even better with vista installed.

Sobrang laki ba ng improvement ng DX10 over DX9? Kasi may sites na nagpakita ng screenies of some games including bioshock, Assassin's creed, etc. running on both dx9 and dx10 tapos wala ako mapansin na pinagkaiba.

hmm i guess xp wont be obsolete yet.. microsoft is still manufacturing windows xp operating system and they still send out updates for it.. until they still have not fix windows vista's bugs, xp would still be manufactured.

Opinion lang po mga bossing. In my 10 years working with computers - mula sa simpleng pagbabantay ng computer shop up to being a Tier 2 sa isang Technical Support business - I can say that the stability of an operating system depends on a lot of factors such as your hardware, the software applications you load and your computer lifestyle/habits.

Ang isang main na disadvantage lang kasi ng Windows Vista is that the hardware requirements for it to work is very high.

So, basing from these facts, I have 2 suggestions:

1. If you want to have a more stable and optimum performance (assuming that there are no bugs or whatsoever) then upgrade to Vista PLUS upgrade your hardware.

2. If your hardware does not meet or just meets the minimum requirements for Vista, then stick with XP.

I hope this helps. It may not be that much or maybe some don't agree, but this is just an honest opinion. Thanks!

+1000 on this. Stick with XP, it's just better with gaming.

you'll see it when you're playing na... when it comes to smoke, fire, tapos yung textures... and depth pati lighting... mahirap makita sa screenshot you have to experience it to see the difference... and you'll see the difference kapag higher resolution and naka max settings lahat sa settings ng games...

Much better kasi if you are planning to migrate from XP to Vista, dapat supported na ng hardware mo ang 64-bit version ng Vista, para mas maximize mo ang upgrade, kasi kung lateral 32-bit lang ang upgrade hindi maximized ang upgrade.

That is if the video card and the game supports the API. I saw a video of the game World in Conflict, it can be played both using DX9 and DX10. Sa DX10 pala pwede ka mag-dual screen sa isang game which is useful for a RTS. Imagine gameplay sa isang screen tapos world map sa kabila...

^ yeah tama... i have world in conflict... but i don't have 2 monitors i'm using a 22" na and it's big enough for me with a 1680x1050 resolution... and usually kasi yung mga FPS hindi nag susupport ng dual monitors when you play... mga RTS mostly pati yung mga RPG ang meron dual monitors support... kasi it will look really odd kapag nag first person shooter ka sa dual monitor mo.. ang crosshair mo nasa gita ng dalawang screen so hindi ka makaka aim ng maayos...  pero yung mga RTS they're trying to balance the issue of the dual monitors and high res monitors kasi lugi yung may mas maliit na screen... sa starcraft 2 or sa mga bagong mga rts i think they have this standard na laki lang ng view of the battlefield etc para fair kahit anong gamit mong monitor...

Crysis and Crysis Warhead din have both dx9 and dx10 and... hmm... assassin's creed din... actually yung mga bagong games puro ganon... may dx9 and dx10 para optimized siya para sa kahit anong system ang gamit mo...

So far ok naman ang Vista in terms of reliability, no crashes experienced owning a Toshiba since Jan this year.

If you're aching to play DX10 games, then by all means get Vista now. But if not, I think most users are better off with XP for the meantime. I don't play games so I'd rather wait for Win7 than upgrade to Vista now.

me too I've had Vista since RC1 and I have an original copy if the RTM in my experience I've had fewer issues with Vista compared to XP.
