fernando piccolo snare..HELP
« Reply #125 on: August 09, 2006, 01:04:50 PM »
Ganyan din ung snare ko.

FERNANDO piccolo 14x3, kulay silver, wood type.

Dami kong pinalitan, batter and resonant head, snare wire kasi di lapat nung stock wore na kasama- di gaanong lumalapa sa reso head, pati ung humilila sa wire, kasi manipis and it tends to move whenever Im tuning the reso head.

Pero after all of that....maganda naman tumunog itong snare na ito.

HOPE THIS HELPS.

Pero kung san ka po mas comfortable, okay na yun.  You dont have to do all the adjustments that I've done.

thnx for the reaction on my suggestion! works for me nman! 2 snare n nalagyan ko ng gnun. my snare and the snare of the drumset sa banda ko sa school.. but both of them are using stock heads. i placed it UNDERNEATH the skin! remember to tune muna ung head bago ilagay kasi, pag nilagay mo n kagad ung CD LABEL before mo itune, nde nman nbabanat ung CD LABEL kasi paper type siya, matatanggal siya sa pagkakadikit.. aun.. if you want to try this in your remo, dont worry, kasi sa ilalim nman ng skin siya ilalagay eh kaya nde madadamage ung coating niya.. and pag gusto mo nang tanggalin, dont worry about the leftovers ng CD LABEL pag tinaggal mo.. jus use baby oil then hiludin mo lang, matatanggal na un..

hope this helps!

cheers!!!

aba ayus ah. magawa nga.
eh pano pag nakakabit na yung cd label  diba? tapos kaylangan kong tanggalin yung skin. so luluwagan ko yun. matatanggal ba yung cd label nun?

Meron sa Stage Point Raon nyan...1,300 php lng.

Tapos ung mga REMO heads nasa 700 php up

Yung snare wire mura lng, pero kung bago mo bibilhin wag mo ng palitan. Yung sakin kc baluktot ung ibang wire kaya pinalitan ko pa.

Yung stock batter head lang palitan mo. (Yung sa ibabaw)

Yung reso head (ilalim) nyan mas okay, mas manipis mas maganda.

Suggestion lang din, yun din kasi sabi sakin ng mga drum mates ko d2.  So far maganda yung naitulong nila.

« Reply #138 on: September 17, 2006, 08:25:46 PM »
with all the new drum models coming out (catalinas, 3001) and new brands coming in (pdp, dw) its good to be a drummer today  :D

my mall for today is sm southmall. as you guys know, i regularly visit and do music shop rounds. there was a sale and i saw this fernando kit on display at jb. man I WAS FLOORED! i couldnt believe the quality of the kit, its top notch! i was able to inspect it closely since it was not setup.

the shells: squeaky clean...white with goodness birch. no defects. no dark spots (as is common on sonor drums). really well made. edges are perfect. inside of the shells are unfinished but smooth (same as all the other more expensive brands).

hardware: all toms with suspension mounts. decent pedal and hihat stand. im very sure its better than pdp on the chrome plating and actual casting of the lugs.

finish: although they only come in wraps, the blue pearl on display is awesome. they have some cheesy wraps too but finishes are subjective to the customer any way. i just love the blue pearl they had

sizes: the one i inspected were a fusion kit, 10, 12, 14 toms. all hanging, no floor tom with legs. get this, 20" bass drum!

the bottom line : price is 18k.. dude .... ssaawwweett

i've heard a fernando kit live (played by jb of the dawn at the levi's clinic) and sounded ok on stock heads. i can only imagine the sound potential if it had better heads on it.

if you try to line up all the locally available drums inside a room. remove their badges and just straight away examine sound, construction and aesthetics...the fernando can stand against sonors, catalinas, pdp and the questionable dw. i just could not find any fault on the display kit.

im very OC when it comes to gear and im very proud to say that i dont care what brand you put in front of me, if i like what i hear  and see then thats it. now im convinced this the new kit im going to buy, i can channel my other funds for other new toys

sorry no pics, maybe i should use part of my funds to get me a new digicam or a fancy cell with cam...hmmmm

bubwit out

ps: you may or might not agree with me but this is my personal opinion only and from what i personally examined, you might not have the same exhilirating experience when you visit a different store with a different display kit. its a base to base casis ok :D

(grabe may case of GAS din ang drummers, buti na lang wala pa kong pera ngayon kung hindi e di laking pagsisisi ko kung nabili ko kaagad yung pdp    )

one more thing, the 'rest of the pack' meant the locally available drums.

excluding yamahas and pearls since i havent paid much attention to their newer offerings...they do have a steep price so now you know im cheap!

stands? everything on double braces. lightweight stuff. id say the fernandos are sonor rip offs with a twist  :D. everything is similar to sonor 3001 hardware pack. i wouldnt be surprised if they come out of the same factory in china/taiwan. the tom suspension mounts are essentially the same with one difference, sonors mount under the lug while the 'ferdies' go around the lug.

the stands are similar to what you can already buy from lazer and raon stores for 1900 or less.

the tom mounts are functional since they use ball and socket type with L-arms. no teeth and groove so you have almost infinite angle adjustment (so sonor-like). the clamp on the hanging floor tom looks like a memory lock, you can only mount it on the upper tube of the stand. if you want better positioning, buy the adjustable clamp from lazer but the existing one does what its supposed to do (hold the tom).

the single pedal included does not have a backplate (so does sonor) but the pedal plate looks like yamaha.

as expected from a midlevel kit, "decent" is the term. functional yet it needs an upgrade sooner or later

Kuya peeves, i already saw the fernando you also saw in JB music park square and yes, i was blown away too!.. but the price in that parksquare jb is around 23k... it has lugs like PDPs.. that frustrates me now knowing that i have sold my fernando to save up for a sonor force when you said that it can stand against sonors and etc... hay... i like that fusion size! well... il just stand by for more comments about that fernando kit we say.. maybe comments can change my mind!

cheers!!!

I heard that Fernando bought this Taiwan factory which used to be operated by Pacific Drums and Percussion (PDP).  Hence, Fernando's drums and hardware have a resemblance on PDP's; in particular, the oval lugs.

Can somebody elaborate on this?

But I do agree... the new Fernandos are a far cry from their humble beginnings.  And I applaud them for making such huge improvements.

im familiar with the lugs the fernandos are using...they are made from another factory called reliance intl. imo, they are better made than the cheapo pdp lugs.

Are those the new Fernando lugs, or just sample lugs?  I can't remember seeing the new Fernandos with those lugs with design embellishments.

Thanks for the info, bro!

waaaaaa!! so many positive comments! im really confused now what to buy!!! Sonor Force or Fernando waaaaa!!

ang kulet nga eh.. rip off combination ang fernando kits ngayon.. yung tom arm (yung pinag kakabitan ng .tom. uhh.. basta yun na yun!) is just like what i saw on a TAMA set.. dunno the model of that TAMA thou.. then the idea of the suspension mount is combined SONOR and PDP concept. then just like what kuya peeves said, the foot boards on the pedal are just like the yamahas.. then the lugs.. D*MN.. its like having all those branded kits in ONE!

tsaka nga pla, piling piling branches pa lang ata ng JB ang nglalabas ng that hell of a Fernando set.. i've been to M.O.A. last night and i checked the JB there.. still the old fernandos..

cheers!!!
