it would still be best if you tried both though :-D

PM'd you.

yung 500D na nasa mid-range bracket eh ang baby brother ng Canon 7D (which is the hot high end-range canon DSLR right now) and in fairness naman eh di ko sya maicocompare sa Nikon D5000 which is like apples and oranges.. tama si dudeofdude na the D5000 share a lot with its "Kuya" Nikon D90 such as the HD Video capture (almost the same pixels) except na hindi "swivel LCD" ang D90 but ofcourse much advance ang features and controls ng D90.. not to mention the ISO.. pero sa video capture eh wala silang pinagkaiba..

so kung feel mo ang 500D eh go for it since mas prefer ko sya kesa sa D5000 na maganda nga with the swivel LCD pero mas nagiging "fragile" naman sya..

and Paulo mas maganda nga na brand new Canon 1000D nalang ang kunin mo at sure ako di ka magsisisi! heheheh
pustahan tayo after 6 months eh mag uupgrade ka! hehehe ibang klaseng GAS ang photography!

 :-D

Thanks for the info bro. Pao, incase mag upgrade ka , you know who to call.  :-D

@rockophoria: 500d is entry-level, 7d's baby bro is the 50d. the d5000 and d90 share the exact same sensor, they have the same ISO performance. i really wish i could have saved up a little more and got the d90 though, anglaking ginhawa ng lcd screen pati dedicated buttons sa taas ng d90. :-D

ay oo nga I forgot.. may 50D pa

in the case of the D5000 and D90 ISO range I kinda find the D90's ISO sensitivity more fluid specially with a prime lens in low light.. or baka hindi ko lang gaano nalaro ng husto ang D5000 since isang beses lang ako nakahawak nun..

and yes the controls of the D90 are the best feature nya and tama ka rin high-resolution ang LCD screen nya and syempre mas high end sya so meron syang in-body autofocus motor, both have live view though madalang ko gamitin yun.. most of the time sa video lang but sa snapshots kahit na overhead eh tinatantsa ko nalang since pag naka on ang live view ng D90 eh may split second delay bago pumalo ang shutter.. sinasara kasi muna nya ang live view bago mag expose ang sensor..

d90 now at 54k.  :-o :-o :-o :-o :-o :-o

hehe yung benta kong D90 dati brand new din yun.. with 28-200mm lens 53k nabili yung body lang (45k) so naiwan sakin yung Sigma 28-200mm lens.. im still thinking if ill ship another D90 for myself or get the semi-DSLRs like the Panasonic Lumix LX-3 or the new popular Panasonic Lumix GF-1..

kaso yung price ng GF-1 eh sing-price na ng brand new D90 kit (with 18-105mm kit lens).. so napapaisip nanaman ako.. ang convenience lang ng semi-DSLRs eh handy sya and not to mention the vintage/old-skul camera looks nya.. hehehe

this type of cameras are gaining ground this days kasi mechanical shutter din sya para syang maliit ng DSLR minus the weight and bulk.. easily fits like a condom in your pocket  :-D

haay anghirap magdecide! sabi ko balik point and shoot na ako but nung makita ko itong GF1 eh parang the magic is back..

the form of a Point and Shoot with the capability and power of a DSLR..  :|

Oh my goodness!!! :-o Please, no. I have too much GAS. This DSLR cam is my last GAS for 2009.

Thanks a lot for the help guys! I'l try both the D3000 & 1000D para mai-compare ko both.

Checking Kimstore. Lol.

Checking it as well.

Alala ko lang, a nurse friend of mine bought a D90 kit + a different kind of lens umabot sya ng 95k. Wow! Talk about GAS!

Joseph yung kaibigan ko (philmusic member: ihopethisnamecounts) may Panasonic Lumix FZ50 check mo yung mga shots nya dito: http://talk.philmusic.com/board/index.php/topic,161932.0.html

I think Nikon D90 na gamit nya ngayon eh.

Me likey! :-D But I think I've got my eyes set on the 1000D. How much does this unit cost?

naku paolo.. ang presyo nitong GF1 eh sing price ng D90 (47-50k) or 900-950 dollars.. grabe kaya napapaisip talaga ako..  :-(

Naku!

I'll also ask Kimstore if meron syang makukunan na brand new D40x or D60, hehehe.

(pero di ko sinubukan) yun yung maima-mount mo ng baligtad yung lens mo to make it "macro"  :-D

Update lang:

I finally decided to get the Canon 1000D, I was really torn between the 2 (D3000 & 1000D). But benta sakin yung live view eh. Hmmmmm..

Anyways, I'm happy naman na eh..
