Microsoft to discontinue Windows 7 and 8.1 next November
« on: November 04, 2015, 11:42:08 AM »
Still want to buy a PC that comes with Windows 7 or 8.1 from the get-go? You've got less than a year.

Updated late October, Microsoft's "Windows lifecycle fact sheet" shows October 31, 2016, as the "end of sales for PCs with Windows preinstalled" for both Windows 7 Professional and Windows 8.1, a change spotted by CNET sister site ZDNet. After that date, the only choice for consumers will be to purchase new computers with Windows 10 installed. The lone exception will be businesses with license agreements that entitle them to choose which version of Windows they want preinstalled.

natatawa ako dyan eh. samantalang ang tagal nang ginagawa ng Apple yan sa OS X, pero walang nagrereklamo. but then again, malakas naman ang security ng Apple servers na pati federal government ng US taeng-[ice cream] dahil hindi nila ma-access legally or otherwise yung data.

10 is all steps forward. yun lang privacy concern about collecting your data, but for me it's a non-issue until Microsoft proves their servers suck ass.

kung naka overclock ka sa non-z board.. Windows 10 is not for you, except if you are willing to run your cpu at stock speed..
other than that and kung wala ka naman problema sa EULA ng W10, go for it. Maganda si Windows 10 kung interface and pag uusapan.
anyways. create po ng System Image backup before upgrading para sure ka.

Don't worry, sa 2020 pa ang End of Support phase kay Win7 and 2023 for 8.1  :-D

Obviously they are putting obsolete computers to rest and force the consumers to embrace the UEFI infested new generation of PCs, tablets and notebooks.

Being an employee who relies on computers, this kind of practice is not economical and practical. They kept on pressuring businesses and institutions to comply to their standards. Why put 6 year old computers to halt if they still could function for my daily needs? Why fix if it ain't broken, right?

Thankfully there exists a big community who are advocates for free software and recycling old technology.

I've ditched Windows for 4 years already, and use Windows 10 only in office, due to task requirements. And all I can say is, [strawberry] WINDOWS 10. (Windows 7 still rocks)

EDIT: For those who want to explore GNU/Linux, try Zorin OS or Linux Mint.
