It's the glissando intro to Pipeline originally recorded by The Chantays.
Most probably RJ played the Ventures version.

at first I thought they were bringing the quality of the RJ guitars of my childhood days.

I can remember the RJ strat I learned to play on when I was a kid, 15-18 years ago. It felt solidly built, very nice jangly sound, but it was very heavy. For a scrawny kid like I was, I couldnt play it while standing but it was very nice.

I'm curious about this guitar though.

I bet everybody loves what they hear and not what they see
The guitar just doesnt look right. Lalo na yung output jack, mukhang parati sira ang cables mo

IIRC 80's pa lang, Jacinto was bragging about Mang Rudy D. having set up
a harness/pickup 'recipe' that allowed multiple classic tones in just one guitar.
It originally came with an LP body/neck.

Never got to try it, so I can't say how well it worked... but I had my doubts.

I think it's only a matter of time before someone transfers tone modeling (to
be mixed with clean signal) from boxes/amps to the guitar itself, but that's a
wayyy different story from "the secret is in the handwound pickups".

Ya it's just plain pickup wiring that wasn't commercially available back then. Eh ngayon ang dami nang nagcucustom dito eh (and lots of info online too!), so it's really nothing new. Like, my humbucker guitars are all coil-tapped by default. Out-of-phase 'ing, I don't care about that.

Not to diss the idea totally, though. It is indeed useful for the guitarist who likes an all-in-one kind of guitar. I tried the first edition Super Vintage before. It just approximates the tones it says it can get. It can't really totally claim what it claims. Exag lang talaga si RJ. Or, you know, marketing chuvaness lang nya yun. Still doesn't warrant the 25k price though.

of course it's still in the fingers. can't play a guitar (or any instrument) and flick those switches if you don't have fingers unless you're a quadruple amputee and need to use prosthetics or your tongue
