1. Not having the patience to learn rudiments. Gusto nila drum set na kaagad.
2. Not practicing with a metronome.
3. Not using ear protection
4. Using old beat-up sticks (may cracks/dents/chipped parts, halos napuputol na). Sticks are your main tools, so they shouldn't get in the way of learning the instrument. You're gonna have the best chance of success possible if your tools are working properly.
5. Not loosening up. Tense up your grip and you risk injuring yourself.
6. Learning how to play but not learning how to tune the instrument itself.
7. Hitting cymbals directly on the edge thus causing them to crack.
8. Over-filling. Inserting fills where it's not needed or appropriate.
9. Practicing their hand technique but forgetting to practice their foot technique.
10. Spending more time posting here in Pinoydrums when they should be practicing their chops!  :-D

*Which reminds me, I gotta go log-out so I can practice!

Dagdagan nyo na lang...

i used to be guilty on 3. not using ear protection. my damaged my ear(thanks to z customs crash and hihats). Doctor suggested  I quit drumming but I would never do that! now I'm using isolation headphones :)

O eto pa: Wanting to learn drum solos right away! Before taking up integral calculus, you should know differential calculus muna.  :-D This is akin to guitarists wanting to learn fast solos right away when they haven't even practiced their hammer-ons, pull-offs, bends, vibratos, etc.

So far eto yung mga mistakes na lagi kong ginagawa..  :-D

2. Not practicing with a metronome.
well, tingin ko kasi wla nman akong problema sa timing eh..? thats why i dun use metronomes.

3. Not using ear protection
parang s*x, mas masarap when u do it naturally

6. Learning how to play but not learning how to tune the instrument itself.
Then how could you say an idea, if you do not have an idea of what you're saying?

Too many cymbals and cowbells but so little chops.

Jumping to soon on the double pedal bandwagon when one hasn't mastered the rudiments on upper limbs yet.

Inclined to ask questions (open new thread about an old topic) instead of doing research on his own first.

Buying/using inappropriate gears to the style of music his band plays.

Copycat syndrome.

eto siguro worst mistakes, dinaanan ko din yung iba dito hehe(not implying na magaling ako ha, im far from being magaling  :-D).

-playing too loud, di na madinig ibang instruments.
-walang ginagamit na hand at foot techniques.
-hindi nag aaral ng basics.

ok to mga bro lalo na pag i pi print tapos ipopost sa mga rehearsal studio.

Hehe! Kailangan talaga metronome. When I started drumming, I didn't even know what metronomes were. Back then, when I would practice playing along with my CDs, sa dinig ko, hindi naman ako nawawala sa beat. But it's very possible kasi na within the context of a song, maaaring di ka nga nawawala, pero pag sinabay ko na sa song yung click ng metronome I discovered na most of the time slightly nauuna or nahuhuli ako sa click ng metronome. Pero with the constant click of the metronome, it will become obvious. What's more, if you're practicing rudiments, kailangan talaga ang background click ng metronome. You're not gonna practice rudiments with music as your background because, like I said, with music as your background possible pa rin na mauna ka or mahuli ever so slightly sa beat.

With metronomes, magiging SPOT-ON yung timing mo.
