Hi guys!
My family (brother and father) will be buying our first drum set, complete with cymbals. BTW, sa akin naka toka ang cymbals so I would like to ask your opinions (ayoko kasi mapahiya haha!).
1. Budget will be 15k to 20k.
2. Brand and category (low end to high end).
3. Generality/ease of use (could be used on different genres)
4. Location (whether in Raon or malls).
Of course, I would like to maximize the budget. Kung meron ako makuha na high end or mid end na magandang set would be best. Plus, may nakikita ako na mga set na may +1 or free na cymbal kasama in box, I would just like to clarify din if ok ung quality ng mga ganung set.
Thanks in advance!
Kung kaya ng budget ang Istanbuls, go for those, pag medyo di kasya, Stagg DH or SH in that order
These are very good cast cymbals for the price, the ones from the big brands easily cost more than twice the price. Because these are handmade (also not a bad thing), give them a test run just to weed out the bad ones. Try to stay away from Zildjian ZBTs or Sabian B8s; they will definitely fit into the budget as they are "student models", but don't sound really good, and are quite shrill. Zildjian ZHT is priced too high for the sound.
Those ones with free cymbals aren't really much of a deal if they're ZBTs and B8s (pag mga Zildjian A/K or Sabian AA/HH ok yan). A basic trio set (hi hat pair, ride, crash) of high quality is a much better choice.
As for the "ease of use," Istanbuls sound pretty great on anything actually, so does the Stagg DH line. Stagg SH is great for pop, rock, metal, punk, electronic, acid jazz, funk, the kind that doesn't demand too much complexity.
Istanbuls are available in Lyric, Staggs are available in The Music Source (sa cubao andun lahat ng major music shops)
