I've an Istanbul Mehmet pair of hats I got off E-bay.

IMO all Istanbul Mehmets (and Istanbul Agops and Bosphorus) are like HH or HHX, or K/K custom for that matter, in the sense that they're "hand-hammered" (in the case of K/K custom, random machine hammered).

What I have is a pair of 14" Mehmet Traditional Regular Hats... "traditional" is supposed to be like their Zildjian A (as in "basic"). To my ears, they sound something like K custom, but a bit different.

There are no dealers here. Altho I think there are in Malaysia and Singapore. And you can probably order from them directly (check their website for details). Of course, there's E-bay.

Price range... check out www.cymbalsonly.com. Per mahal dun. The prices are about 30% less if you buy directly from the manufacturer or even less if you get one through E-bay.

ganda sobra ng mga yan... talgang hand hammered sila unlike sa big 3 na mostly machine na.  Sa nababasa ko ha, mga tao na talaga ang nagto-tono ng mga cymbals na yan.

ung plan ko kc is to have a set of cymbals.
Ppol say na ok naman daw kung higher end ang kunin, kc my resale value.

but for me, ang naisip ko, bumili ng used nasa upper end para mas mura, almost half, even less than half p nga para dun s nkuha ko n HH crash. Tpos kung ibebenta ko, pwed ko pa rin sya ibenta vey close dun sa value na pagkakabili ko or even higher...

analogy ko lng un... di ko alam kung ok un sa iba...

ang mahira lng un Istanbul.. it seems na lahat ng bumili nun ayaw yata ibenta.... so mukhang maganda nga... wl kc masyadong mkita na used...

prefer ko sana na same line ang set ko, sabian sana kc nasimulan ko na... kaya lang, I noticed nga tong istanbul... mukhang maganda...

so for now, i want to know its price range... wl kc sya s massmusic.. wl tuloy akong basis...
thanks s advice/...

DRUMRESOURCES
B1 - 31, Excelsior Hotel (basta sa Excelsior) marami dun, sandamakmak n guitar store, at nagiisang drumstore..

ISTANBUL MEHMET Hihat Sample (With Drums)
Inspired by D'yer Mak'er by Led Zep, Inigo recorded some drumlines for their song.  We tried to tune the drums as close to D'yer Mak'er and employed some room miking and mega compression before the signals hit the hard discs.

Anyway, I just wanted to share how the Mehmet Regular 14" Hihats sound.  Can't describe it.  Warm but not dark.  Ewan! Basta alam ko unique sound niya.

(To Inigo and the rest of Haneps , pardon for raping your song.)

Trashy, but not harsh.  Chinas are harsh.  Wuhan crashes are harsh.  Mehmets still retain that Turkish bronze focus, like how Zildjian K Constantinoples are.

Dare I say that Mehmets are comparable to K Cons?  Like hell, yeah. :D

ISTANBUL CYMBALS

At the age of nine Mehmet Tamdeğer started to work for  Mikhail Zilcan, grandson of Kerope Zildcan. Mikhail Zilcan and Kirkor Küçükyan taught them every aspect of this ancient Turkish art. Based  on a history that stems back to the early 17th century.

When Mehmet Tamdeğer and Agop Tomurcuk founded the İstanbul Cymbal Company in the early 1980’s, they had over three decades of cymbal making experience. Mehmet and Agop named their company after the city that has been home to the epitome of high quality cymbals for many, many years: Istanbul.

After Agop Tomurcuk’s unexpected death in July 1996, Mehmet decided to continue the production of cymbals under his own name İstanbul Mehmet. A lot has changed since then, but his belief in the richness and the character of a handmade cymbal will always remain. Machines don’t have ears. That’s why  we contiue to make our cymbals according to the ancient tradition - with an open eye towards the music that’s being made now, and in the future.

ayuz!

trip na trip ko ung istanbul agop signature -- ultra dark! lupit ng tunog. Ito ung series na gusto kong kumpletuhin

Yung Mel Lewis series ayos din yon. Sarap nung ride, woody stick definition, dark, not too bright tapos konting wash.. Controllable.. Yung crash ride ganda...

Yung sultan splash and hihats ganda ng tunog non.. Pati ung turk hats and china..

hay... gas... :-D

Mali ata info ni ser Tedi.  I called awhile ago sa market market.

They're selling Istanbul MEHMET not Istanbul AGOP.

The Lines available are Radiant, Sultan, and Samatya.

FYI. Istanbul Cymbals split after Agop's death in 1997. So the other half formed Istanbul Mehmet and Agop's sons continued the Istanbul AGOP name.

Mehmet and Agop are two different Brands. La lang.
