Aluminum Guitars (Travis bean, Kramer, EGC etc...)
« on: October 12, 2009, 09:21:41 AM »
hey guys.

last year i got to try an aluminum guitar made by a company called EGC (electrical guitar company). it was owned by the guitarist of an australian band called mydisco. damn it was awesome. it sounded like a tele on steroids. i only wish i could own one because they are really really darn expensive.

anyone here own or at least used an aluminum guitar before?

is a locally made aluminum guitar possible?

Possible thru aluminum casting. Have done this a couple of months ago.

It's part of my engineering major. Obviously, my answer would be my university. However, they don't offer it for commercial purposes. CNC machines are technically the better way to do it since it produces a product with small tolerance. You could even make a guitar out of it in a couple of days only using fiberglass, alumium or any material you want as long as you know the process. Yun nga lang, mahal ang production. Isa pa, the design would mostly come from you including the soft copy so the CNC machines would be able to program the fabrication process.

There is however a place in Bulacan where CNC machining is covered. I forgot what it's called but it's where batteries are manufactured. I've been there just last summer. Cool and awesome place.
