not gonna fix, gonna enhance.. gonna improve..

Sakit natin talaga yan.  Some guys like the SE's for being strictly a mod platform.  For me it's a guitar I already enjoy stock, I like it for what it is from the day I had it taken off the wall.

@r_chino18

Yeah man.  Be wary of mods you can't reverse or bring back.  Mahirap na if you don't like it, or miss the old configuration.

As promised: PRS 25th Anniversary SE Custom 24

As described in PRS Website
Body
Top Wood: Maple Top with Quilt Maple Veneer
Body Wood: Mahogany

Neck
Number of Frets: 24
Scale Length: 25"
Neck Wood: Maple
Fretboard Wood: Rosewood
Neck Shape: Wide Thin
Fretboard Inlays: Pearloid Birds

Hardware
Bridge:  PRS Designed Tremolo
Tuners: PRS Designed Tuners
Treble Pickup: SE HFS Treble Humbucker
Bass Pickup: SE Vintage Bass Humbucker
Pickup Switching: Volume and Tone Control with 3-Way Toggle

Quick review:

Neck is nice and smooth. Radius very optimal for all types of play. Equipped with D'Addario 9s. Action was low without buzz. Plugged in, tones are sweet. Best sound comes from middle position. Tremolo is new to me as the bar is an "insert" rather that screw on. Don't dive bomb anyway so I think it will hold in a gig.

The look is priceless. Vintage yellow with red tones in head and cutaway. Cream pickup rings adds for unique look. And bird inlays!

Caveat: Bought it at JB Southmall for P38K sale price. The SE Custom is P44K regular price. I got it at a steal!

@ ernan

nice combination bro! instant Santana or Merk Tremonti tones!   panalo!

@ letour

nice 25th anniv..  :-) good score you got on that one.. cheers!
they're at 20% off sale ngayon.. when i bought my Standard way back 2008, they had a 30% off of the PRS guitars.. so i got mine for 5k less than the sale price today.. anyway, still a good one that you got.  :-)

@ernan - duling ba ko o wala talagang toggle switch yung prs mo?

Let me answer for ernan.  Stock yan on some PRS models.  You get the rotary 5-way position switch instead of a 3-position toggle.  Some prefer the 5-way over a toggle with push-pull pot, and vise-versa.

BTW ernan, how does PRS call that finish?  I dig the complement of black rings and knobs, lalakeng-lalake bro.   And with the rig you got there, awesome!!  If only I could have the simplicity and WIN of your setup.  :-P

@Letour

Nice guitar!!  I love the trem inserts of PRSi, and their trems in general.  Soon you'll be doing jeff beck licks!  :-D  I like the middle position as well, the stock PUPS together seem to have that single-coil thing going on when you're in middle.  Just a tad.  And I must commend you on the nice price you got it for!  If only I've waited a year, malamang ganyan din guitar ko ngayon.  :-P :-P

Thanks for the posts guys.

I am really enjoying this new baby. I changed the strings to my favorite Ernie Balls. But I found a flaw in the tremolo. Actually in the guy inserting the strings through the tremolo.... ME!

Haven't changed strings in a back loading tremolo for a long time so I forgot to pull the strings all the way up the cavity before winding the tuners. As I was tightening the strings.....BAM.... I thought I broke the tuners.... But it was the string...... had about a couple inches in the cavity. So now my G string has a tiny fold by the bridge pickup.

Ah well, lesson learned.....
