While expect most analog heads to be oldies
, I just wanna know how much pain in the a$$ it is to work with analog. So is it really hell to:
1. Calibrate the 2" machines (using your MRL tape, oscilloscope, etc.)?
2. Stripe the tape to sync with midi equipment such as automated mixers and/or sequencers?
3. Not have Ctrl-Z?
4. Splice tape and use Scotch adhesive tape and do your chalk markings?
5. Have only 32 minutes at 15ips or 16 minutes on 30ips on a full reel of tape?
6. Track and track until the performance is perfect? No Autotune or nudging tracks here...
Just by the thought of it, digital has a lot of advantages, but then again, analog has a certain character to it which makes me wanna learn it. I can't call myself a "sound engineer" without even messing with a take-up reel once in my life.
