Title: Animation Cels (Hand Drawn Animation)
Post by: randymarsh on August 06, 2014, 07:56:48 AM
I love cartoons. I remember watching Voltes V, Mickey Mouse, the Pink Panther, GI Joe, Transformers, He Man, etc... when I was a kid.

Kahit nung nagtratrabaho na ako, I'd watch Spongebob, Ren and Stimpy, Cow and Chicken and Angry Beavers sa Cartoon Network just to relax and forget the stress in the office.

Here's my certified original production animation cels of some cartoons. I'm thinking of properly framing the pieces and display in the house.

Cow and Chicken

eBay. Just be careful sa eBay dahil maraming nagkalat na fake na animation cel. Inspect the drawings carefully and compare sa actual cartoon episode. I'd avoid sellers na masyadong maraming inventory.

Here's more

yeah, i've been looking at those before, and some looked pretty dubious to me -- some just outright admitted to printing them on acetate, so i stayed away. you got any good ebay sellers you'd recommend?

now i want to get these and collect 80's/90's cartoons.

look up tonyscollectibles2013.

i'd stay away from these items unless being sold in a reputable art gallery. an original looney toon cel from the 50s should easily sell around $3000. a cel from a disney classics like cinderella would sell around $10000.
daming nagkalat na forgery for pre 70s cartoons kaya anything under $500 would be a sericel repro or a fake copy.

Why collect animation cels?

Animation today are all done with computers (way cheaper and faster to animate) making animation cels scarce and highly collectable.

What to look for animation cels?

A memorable cartoon moment, a meaningful pose (the subject should be interacting with another subject or looking at the viewer). Also consider the drawn size of the character. Cels with a hand painted background is high collectable.
