Help! Balak namin gumawa ng sariling drumset

Ang negosyo kasi ng family namin ay may kinalaman sa kahoy.. Mga Furnitures, sash, wood works ika nga....
And at the same time mga music lover din kame, especially yung mga kapatid kong maliliit pa,
Bale napag usapan namin ng aking butihing ama na anu kaya kung gumawa kame ng sariling drumset, na anung malay natin baka ma i mass produce pa..
Kaso ang problema ay kung pano nain huhulmahin yung plywood.. madami na akong alam na pwedeng bilihan ng spare parts at hardwares, yun nalang talaga ang problema .. (KUNG pano ma bebend yung kahoy para mabilog siya)
Me alam po ba kayo na mga techniques, kung pano namin mabibilog yung kahoy..
help naman po jan mga mahilig sa DIY ehehehe...

Search Youtube. There's one video of Sonor Drums that showed how they bend the plywood to make drum shells. You need special equipment for it. They steam the wood prior to putting it in the bending machine. It's made of of several plies and glued together.

wala ba sa philippines? i mean yung mga locally made na drumsets
kung bending machines kasi eh talagang malabo kame makagawa kung ayun yung paraan na gagamitin, wala pa po ba na ka try dito yung tipong mano mano...
sana meron, para makakuha kame ng idea..
ang naisip palang namin ay magpagawa ng hulmahan sa aming suking iron works shop, tapos i-roll dun yun plywood 1 by 1... baka me iba pang me mas magandang idea??

you could try making stave drumshells.  Parang yung process na ginagawa sa bongos or congas.

it is possible to produce locally,kuya. kasi what is usually used by the baranggay ati-atihan bands are locally produced drums.if they have budget that's the time they buy the imported fernando brands that use better quality wood.please note that the type of wood will also help produce good sound.as for the parts, jb music carries the gibraltar accessories. this is a u.s. brand and the accessories are heavy duty.if you need more info, you can text me at 09228171590/09172008383/09186106561.

some possible reasons your steam bending attempt will fail:

kiln dried na yung mga kahoy na nabibili dito. kailangan kasi may certain moisture content yung kahoy at hindi pwedeng basta ka na lang pupulot at ilalagay sa steamer. may specific steaming time din ang bawat type ng kahoy, di pwedeng sobra at di pwedeng hilaw. mababali or magwawarp lang yung kahoy later on. kailangan din less than 2 minutes e nailagay mo na sa molde yung kahoy at hindi lang basta kaya gawin yun ng kamay kahit na 2 tao pa. kapag lumampas ka sa 2 minutes hindi mo na maibend yung kahoy at hindi mo na pwedeng isalang ulit sa steamer

kung successful ka na dyan, dumadaan din sa torno ang mga steambent shells

may advice, take it one step at a time. start ka muna sa ply shells or stave. para sa kin mas madali gumawa ng ply kesa stave. pero kung maganda gamit nyo (may jointer or thickness planer) e di mas ok kung magstart kayo sa stave

di ganun bro,ang balak ko sana yung pintura na pang car show. yung tamang blue pero pag na sinagan ng ilaw nga iiba. 3 colors,4,may nakita pako 27 colors sa trans show hehe!
pintura gamit dupont,sikkens etc. kaso pang kotse yun,dadalin ko sana sa mga nag rerestore ng oto kaso di ako sure kung kaya nila sa kahoy. yung mga mahilig sa kotse dito baka may alam kayo.

you can produce the desired colors on the drum wraps using tin as backing. you can change wraps kung ayaw mo na. car paint i think is not advisable to wood it is designed for metal only.kakapit but not for long or not that kinis.

not really true about car paint not sticking on wood as good as metal...primer lang katapat nun or kung gusto mong medyo translucent at kita yung grain, use sanding sealer
