What do you want to learn about recording?
« Reply #1050 on: March 11, 2016, 01:37:32 PM »

I am looking for the reply on this question.

1. Vocals. Para sa pop punk, dapat little or no reverb.

2. Not really, depende lang talaga sa taste at technique. Basta ang goal is balance at may space yung tunog at levels. No hard and fast rule talaga dito so it's best to listen to records on how they pan the instruments. I am an LCR fan though (yung hard panned left and right ang guitars) but if my orchestration can't be used with LCR, I don't.

3. Walang ganun. Mastering should always be the final step. Actually no. Mastering IS the final step before the vinyl hits the template or the laser hits the CD. Doon "didikit" yung track.

Hello recording people of Philmusic!

I just want to know which audio interface and DAW should I be choosing from the two below:

Focusrite 2i2 bundled with Cubase LE version
or
Presonus audiobox USB bundled with Studio One.

Thank you so much! God bless!

Personally, I would go with the Scarlett 2i2. Meron ako niyan bro and swabeng swabe yung built-in preamps nung interface na yan. I can't comment on the DAW because I use Reaper lang but it gets the job done naman :)

Pero repear is so good because its free version is already at par as premium licensed DAW. Di ko alam anong need for license when using reaper.

Good hardware and better software between both bundles.

Any random pop song na radio friendly.

Think of Yellowcards' Ocean Avenue.

you can try the Sennheiser HD180. its around PHP 600-800 sa lazada. they are decent and flat, pero mejo flimsy yung cables.

next would be the SUPERLUX HD681Evo. these are good cans na.

Hi guys,

So is it okay?

Thank you so much. :)
God bless you guys

Base lang sa alam ko to ha, di ko pa natry pero...
Tingin ko pwede yan, kung may line out yung amp mo tapos isasaksak sa interface since line "level" naman ang tinatanggap ng interface diba?

Kaso, kung sakali man, hindi ba amp head lang yung papasok interface so tunog basura parin yun unless may simulated speaker yung line out or gagawin ka ng cab emulator plug-in.

Ang verdict, not worth the risk, since di rin maganda tunog na makukuha mo, so kesa masira ang interface or gumana man pero panget tunog, i suggest i-mic mo nalang yung amp or use amp/cab sim vsts.

no need for DI, pwede mo ikabit yung XLR ng MSDI direct sa focusrite.

pero di maganda tunog ng MSDI, it sounds muffled and supercompressed/tiny. mas maganda pa rin yung peavey mo used with a mic to the focusrite. better yet, palitan mo yung stock speaker with an eminence governor or celestion v30, no simulation can beat the sound of the real thing.

and dont use the direct outs from amps because it renders the preamp gain and eq useless. usually clean sound lang yun kasi nga 'direct' so from guitar input papunta na agad yun dun sa direct out. no preamp or eq coloration.

Yup! Best to mic up that 6505+ combo. Use an sm57 or that prodipe sm57 wannabe they sell at lazer. I also dont like the msdi sound ng peavey. I have the mini 6505+ head and that msdi blows. Sounds dull and lifeless. iMHo lang naman. Maybe you could learn to love it and make great music with it. Dimebag had the worst tone, but that dude is a beast with his riffs, pero i digress.

does any of you guys do mentoring? I've been mixing for almost 4years now and until now,(learning on my own) via the good old internet and youtube and some mixing engineers i follow. wala din kase masyadong courses for Music Prod sa schools malapit dito. I know one sa CSB. pero  bka naman may ma recommend kayong Mixing/Mastering Engineer from the south that's willing to be a mentor. Im from Las Pinas BTW. thanks!

Any thoughts or may nakasubok na ba sa inyo na maglagay ng paper cup sa mic to record drums especially sa toms and snare drums para mabawasan ang bleed?
