I agree with Al,

most of the people there know mang jun :)

oh jun! jun is my man! i tried couple of luthiers here in la and im sorry for my self spending money for unsatisfying jobs. i've been sending my guitars since 02 to jun and im really satisfied. his PF is pretty reasonable. I spent 3k for circuitry, fret levelling, intonation, truss rod adjustment, etc for my squire stagemaster. Actually i sent it back again together w/ my rg for my rg's refret. my eb jp6 and gibby les paul is next when i come back there.

Btw, im not saying that Jun Castro is the best amongst other. dont get me wrong guys! Im not here to argue. Im just saying that he gives me exactly what i want for my guitar and i dont want to gamble my guitar for someone else. Im willing to spend for shipping and stuff since i know that my guitar is safe and will go back to me as i wanted to be. all worh it! sarap to the bones! :-D

One more thing guys, whenever you send a guitar for a job, make sure that you'll ELABORATE EVERYTHING and WHAT EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT TO HAPPEN, OR IF YOU CAN RELATE IT TO SOMETHING, DO IT! make sure that everything clear!

over all jun's rate to me is AAA+++!

@Al, pare paki sabi kay jun pakisagot yun telepono. pasensya na kung medyo dis oras jan kc yun lang oras ko dito. my father dropped off my guitars there the other day so gusto sana i update. salamat!

He'll also explain as to why this is, should be, and why is that supposed to be, etc...

Very satisfied customer here.

So sa mga may problema sa gitara..

Dalhin nyo lang kay Kuya Jun. Your money's worth it talaga. Mabait pa.

I'm planning to take my Ibanez GRG121TR there as well in the near future, and my SX acoustic guitar.
I am the dark side of you

Mahirap magbitaw ng presyo based on generic questions.

You can try calling him, but I wouldn't be surprised if he still didn't give you a quote. Kelangan mo talaga dalhin yan para makita ni Jun up close. The first thing he'll do is check kung mahahabol sa fret leveling yung neck mo so you won't have to spend for a full refret job. Kung hindi kaya, e di refret na. Either way, even if you did post pictures here, si Jun pa rin ang makakapagsabi ng tapos.

pagdating sa intonation, action set-up, fret levelling, trustrod adjustment etc.. the best si mang jun, expalin pa nya sayo mga gagawin nya sa guitar mo bago nya gawin, at hindi ka magsisisi, affordable price, may sarili sukat yung yamaha ty tabor drop 6 model ko sa kanya, mas mahaba kase scale length nun kumpara sa ibang axe kaya ginawan nya ng sariling sukat, approachable saka down to earth sya dami mo pa matututunan tungkol sa gitara (accesories, parts, woods, etc..)
nice boys, don't play rock n' roll..

Dadaan sila sa usual route nila which is through E. Pascua/M. Roxas wherein maglalakad ka pa at baka maligaw ka eh. Pagbaba mo ng tricycle, may makikita ka dun na malaking umbrella (I'm sorry coz I don't know what to call it heheheh shade probably?) yun na yung kay Mang Jun. It's a must to text him or call him first before ka pumunta at para masundo ka niya pagbaba mo ng tricycle, text mo lang siya na nandun ka na.

Just wanna share my PRS SE CUSTOM JUN CASTRO SIG

got my guitar from Jun Castro, a total overhaul for my loved one. My PRS SE CUSTOM 22 in GRAY BLACK.

REVIEW:
There hasn't been much love for my PRS this past few weeks because i effin Fcuked up my graphtech nut.  i have been to other luthiers, the one i have a bad experience, the other one in sta mesa was too far for me (had good experience with him, i had a custom tele from him before). So i was browsing philmusic and i remembered Mr Jun Castro.

Its a mistake that i went to him last. His talent in setting up guitars are superb. Did i mention his ears are good too?

so i brought my PRS to him, and told him everything he needs to know about it. he then diagnosed my problem. one of it was my intonation. HUH? i always thought i was super OC about guitar set up, especially intonation, up to the very minute cent.

reality bites, he did not tell me i was wrong. HE SHOWED ME. suddenly my ears opened up. OO NGA ANO, hindi papala ganun ka intonated ang guitar ko.
another thing. output from my pickups were not balanced. he showed me, i heard it. another light bulb moment. i thougt ok na yung out of the box dimarzio, i dint bother to change the pole pieces. akala ko walang diff yun, at ok lang na wag i adjust.

well then we talked and talked about guitars, set ups, and what nots. i stayed there very long. i was listening and gaining knowledge from him while he was asessing my guitar. really nice guy.

afterwards, he told me his findings about my guitar. he told me everything, but he said, i can choose kung ano lang papagawa ko. ang important daw ay nasabi niya sakin ang problems na nakikita niya, para aware ako.

but then, i chose to fully entrust him everything about my guitar. its my first time with him, but i really want to try his services. so i just told him, "kayo napo bahala sa guitar ko."

hindi niya minadali ang gawa sa guitar ko. he even took the time to have a "break in" time for his set up, so he could have minute final adjustments pa.

then the day came. i was excited.

first thing i tried: DIVEBOMB. abusive divebombs one after the other. divebombs wanking type. and oh my it stayed in tune..

next, the nut. pretty bone nut! nicely cut! malinis! did i mention it looks pretty? i opted for bone nut coz it matches my pup rings and selector switch.

next: fret levelling and crowning
i press heavily on the guitar so may dents na ang frets ko because of everyday usage. oh i checked it, no dents again, like new! did i mention, theres no buzz? bending was so smooth, like a hot knife through butter.

next, PICKUPS.
adjusted polepieces looks so cool. damn cool. volume was so even, chords are pleasant to hear.no notes are left out. balanced.

next, intonation:
this is the [gooey brown stuff]. tried chords at 12th fret upwards, as high as i can get.
omg chords are so clear, and it sounded like you are at the lower frets. i had so much fun playing chords! i was so into solo improvisations that i missed how much fun chording is, especially at higher frets, when you chords sound so clear, like dead on ang every note.

i dont know if i missed out anything. ill post when i remember.

one thing ill say to all, especially PRS owners:

give your guitar a favor and bring it to Jun. every peso is well spent.
he exceeded my expectations.

most of us spends thousands of pesos upgrading our guitar, while i realized, you just need a pro set up from a talented luthier to sound really good.

Great to know your guitar turned out well.

I guess you'll be needing something to lubricate your new bone nut. Just don't use pencil lead kung ayaw mong mapagalitan katulad ko dati. Hahaha...
