Practically any DAW can be used for mastering, but it's the ears and monitoring equipment that make a difference.

Me too, i want to improve the quality of my recordings too.. even though some people said that i already have the good quality of my recordings.. but then, i'm comparing the audio quality to the other artist.. anyway, i'm just doing a basic technique.. :(

Remember, mixing is often not just setting the volume then forgetting about it. Things are usually more dynamic than just a fixed setting. Mastering, OTOH, is more about making an album a cohesive whole. Mastering was never about a single song.

funny how these days i always hear remarks about a mastered track... it seems that making a track as loud as can be e mastering na. the art of sequencing and appropriate levels e neglected na.

Agree.

Software has made it even easier to slam the levels making tracks almost painful to listen to. I remember playing around with Izotope Ozone's 'mastering' preset... it was a novelty at first, but then ear fatigue became more frequent. I hardly listen to music nowadays, and I miss our family's old turntable and vinyl collection.
