hmmm, may coated ba lazer? if ever there is, coated ba yung 12" snare mo?

It makes a lot of difference kasi between coated batter heads for snares and uncoated.

I'm using evans skins right now and i am happy with it. pero depende talaga sa pandinig ng drummer yan, merong iba ayaw, mas gusto ang remo ambassador, pero for me, evans talaga ako hehehee....

ayaw nila yung tunog ng snare,
manipis daw and things like that...
eh ganun naman talaga tunog ng 12 diba?

You may be right. But if I were you, I'll try to tune my heads a bit lower.

Mag adjust ka lang ng konti siguro, and let your bandmates judge the sound.

gudlukk!

well,
for sure they have a point and they must be coming from somewhere,
since 12" snares are really high in pitch or tones,
but you see,
we play in the church and sad to say that our sound system is incapable of delivering our music to the congregation clearly,
and there's no mic available for the drums and our place is narrow and long,
it means that the sound from the stage will have to  travel all the way to the back of our church, making it audible to at least 250 people which is really impossible for an acoustic drum set alone.
that's why i thought that since i cant please everybody, i might as well at least please the musicians around me,
which is contrary to what's happening right now,
although not all my bandmates have the same comments, i haven't heard anything from our band leader regarding that matter and i find the 14" snare that comes with the drum set to be too loud for me, making my playing messed up and it's quite annoying for me....
and one more thing since we play in the church,
we dont play rock songs too much,
it's much more of easy listening, for me at least...
that's why i arrived at the idea of changing my cheap lazer heads with evans hoping that it will improve the way my snare sounds...
the problem is, i'm not sure what head is appropriate for me....

Medyo complicated nga yang case mo kasi we also have to consider that you're playing inside the church.

Tissue & duct tape are the cheapest way to dampen the sound of your troublesome snare drum :-)

as for the tuning of the snare? try mo masmahigpit yung bottom head kaysa sa batter head. same goes for the toms. para maskaunti yung echo. :-D

there's no such thing as 'di ako marunong magtono' in drums coz there is no right or wrong way of doing it. what may sound good to us may sound bad to you or vice versa so just experiment with your tension. makukuha mo rin yung gusto mong tunog balang araw

gamitin mo ung drum key mo,tpos sbi nila mas mahigpit daw dapat ung nasa ilalim, keysa sa batter side, ung playing side...
