In my opinion mas mahirap ang classical performance-wise. It requires a great amount of discipline. May napanood kasi ako sa youtube na chinese girl tinugtog nya ung caprice ni Paganini. Napa nganga ako sa galing. Kailangan kasi sakto ka timing. Kailangan kung ano nakasaad sa music piece ganun ang tirada mo. Di ka dapat nauuna o di ka dapat nahuhuli. Some pieces requires long finger stretches. While jazz naman kailangan alam mo ibat-ibang scales/chords, substitution/inversion. Kailangan mo naman ng feel and phrasing saka experimentation. Opinion lang naman.

that's what I think hehe, para sa'kin mas mahirap mag improvise kesa magbasa ng ready made piece, I'm not talking bout techniquie btw. just music.

bakit kamo? kelangan mong sundin yung eksaktong nota with the right attack, fingering, dynamics, etc. para maging maganda ang output.
sa jazz, as long as maganda ang tunog, ok ang choice of notes at maayos ang pag-sosolo mo oks na.

Mas madali ang classical, kasi madaming teacher. Ang jazz, konti lang ang hirap humanap!!! Hanggang ngayon wala pa ako nakikitang teacher, tapos pag meron naman marunong magturo, chord theory agad, tapos substitutions, haha mahirap maintindihan.

Improv is but a small slice of the monster pizza of Jazz. Classical music has fugues, counterpoint, etc., Jazz has Contrafacts, altered chords, tritone substitution, etc. etc.
BTW, classical music has its own share of improvisations. Google some cadenzas and listen.

Clasical music has emotion too. Spend time to listen. You'd be surprised to see how classical pieces have more emotions compared to pop songs of today.

Sinubukan ko classical dati...too much discipline for me. Nahirapan ako dahil di ko ma-express yung sarili ko dahil kailangan susundin mo yung piece. For example, gusto ko mag-apply ng vibrato sa isang note while ang nakalagay lang sa music sheet ay accent lang. Magkaiba yung dalawa.
Sa jazz, though you need theory, once you're in improv-mode, you can play at the spur of the moment.
IMHO. :)

I agree. but playing classical pieces live IMO, doesn't require much emotion as long as you know the piece.
tapos sa jazz naman kelangan ng malupit na expression. opinyon ko lang naman.
it is required to play with much emotion when playing classical music live. It is a lot more difficult to achieve this because you are bound by the piece you are playing whereas in Jazz you have all the freedom to choose the notes that will let you express better.
if a classical performance lacks emotion that would be similar to a piece played in MIDI.

Classical all the way though both are hard to master, an idea is that once you master the classical techniques maski anong instrument gamit mo everything else the comes next to it (i.e jazz, metal, shred etc.) if not be easier will be more less challenging. IMO \m/

Not always bro, we tend to conform to what the piece means, and interpret our styles from it.

One style is harder to play over another style depending on each person's way of learning it. With all the information in the internet at our disposal, it all comes down to the musical and technical preference of the person. :-D
Some people may be more easily able to learn one style over another style. It's going to be an individual thing and only the person attempting these two styles will be able to let us know... Example: Paco De Lucia inspired modern flamenco style.
