It's good to know Robin Aristorenas is still in top playing form these days.

I think it's an Ibanez PM100 model but I'm not sure about the neck pick up because it doesn't look like the humbucker in the pictures I saw at Ibanez's website. Oh yeah, I think he had it replaced! That's why it looks different! I'm referring to the first video you posted, by the way.  :-)

Some backgrounder on Sir Robin, please?  :-D

By the way, cool music! Gliding, man!  :-o

Hey froggie!

Musta bro?

Yup, it does look like a Pat Metheny model with the neck pickup changed.

Background info? Hmmm ... I remember, there was a thread about him at Guitar Central, but that was probably a year ago.

Anyway, just to answer your question (and mayk_bam's), Robin is the eldest son of 70s action star Jun Aristorenas.

Unknown to many, that guy is an amazing jazz/fusion guitarist, who was quite active in the band scene during the mid-80s. He used to play with Boy Katindig, and soon after played in a few showbands with the likes of Tots Tolentino and Joey Quirino.

He disappeared from the band scene from the 90s onwards. It was only recently when word got around that he pursued his interest as a CG animator. A Google search reveals a string of Hollywood film credits.

Robin's one of the most incredible guitarists I've ever seen up close and personal.

Unlike someone like, say, Eugene Pao, who is frighteningly amazing, Robin Aristorenas is an inspiringly beautiful musician. Very warm. Razor sharp blade but gentle. Right up there with the best of them, in my humble opinion.

In a better world, Robin's name would be said in the same breath as Holdsworth's, Scott Henderson's and Humperdinck's.

@Deacon Blues: Kumusta, bro? Haven't heard from you for a loooong time!  :-D Have you seen our pics from our most recent EB at Vic's? Hahaha! Oks sana kung nandun ka para may guitar player.  :-)

Sir Rob's lines are sweet, bro! But I still think sweet is an understatement. I think I saw four youtube clips of Sir Rob with the same group. I saw the drummer and sax player: Halimaw!  Unbelievable!

By the way, you still have your number? I texted you like a month ago or so pero you weren't able to reply. Maybe busy...  :-D

Tol,

Robin sent me an email some time ago - he lives in London now, owns some CGI effects house.

As for the video... somehow I wanted to see a long drum solo :)

This is an enquiry e-mail via http://philmusic.com/main from:
Robin Aristorenas <ravfx@yahoo.co.uk>

Greetings!
I've been browsing around and found a thread about me - Jazzbo got his info quite accurately on me..I've been based in London since 92 and went into visual effects & animation for films. I was very fortunate to have worked and created digital visual effects for a few known flicks and still pursuing the goal.

I now run my own CGI company (cinevision visual effects ltd. based in London (cinevisionvfx.com)

although this turn of career from music to visual effects have been my biggest achievement so far, music will always be my first love and still able to share moments with my guitar at least once a day up to this time :)  -- would love to touchbase with our pinoy musician bros!

Speak soon
Robin
