I just got my very first offset last saturday..2nd hand pero fresh na fresh..
so..the next morning..I played him a bit and placed it on an A-frame stand after..so being new to the offset shape..I didnt know that this type of stand is a big no-no for an offset body.. so..I was moving around the house..and suddenly I heard this "BAMMMM"..
the guitar slipped and lost its balance...fell sideways and hit the floor headstock first..chipping a small chunk of paint from the matching headstock and leaving a small corner cut (kasi nakakabit yung clip on tuner).
I cringed...fell down to my knees..and stared blankly at the damage...
"Well, Its finally mine now"...I said..
first cut is the deepest...though its liberating..as I can finally loosen up take off my baby gloves and play the sh*t out of him...I call him "Adam" by the way...
Its ironic because..my old squire '51 I have been using for 4 years..has been beaten, kicked, reliced, left under the sun, smoked on, trashed, taken everywhere with just a thin cheapo case, loaned, dismantled, fret filed (with no tape to cover the wood)..frozen..totally negleted and uncared for that much..survived 4 years with absolutely no major obvious damage whatsoever..
hahaha..
Sometimes I think , I have this "new guitar curse" or something..this is the 2nd time it happened..(first time when I got my first Am.Std Strat, after just two days I found a deep dent in the body and I have no Idea how it got there)......New guitars have a way of depriving me of the "HONEYMOON-BABY" period I would like to have with them...
Now its all good, I find it easier to play and use..and you dont notice it anymore as you can now focus on having fun..rather than being to focused and anal about keeping your guitar safe and pristine...which sucks..
Call it Mojo, Battle scar, natural relic-ing...its a good sign..at least your guitar is used as its intended to be..they are happier that way..and at least you dont have to pay extra for someone or some company to relic your instrument..hahaa
I still feel bad thinking of that bad fall my jaguar had..sigh..pero nakita ko mga fender roadworns..medyo bugbog yung headstock ng dents..iniisip ko kung "nagappreciate ba yung value ng guitara ko dahil nagkadent?" hahaha Im very careful with my stuff, I do abuse them when i play pero ayoko ng mga stupid accidents..hahaha..
everytime nakikita ko yung tuner na isa pang cause ng damage..naiirita padin ako..haha
so far, since matindi tama sa neck..di naman siya madali mawala sa tono..mukhang stable naman siya after that bad fall..still waiting for that bigsby to arrive pangpasaya..
