I am not a pro but sa akin walang advantage ang pag gamit ng hard reed. I am happy with Vandoren #2 or La Voz Medium.

muchas, here is my opinion, try to observe, yung size 3 na reed na gamit mo kaya medyo hirap.. you need to give effort and ang embrouchure mo mas mahigpit... so habang tumataas mas mahigpit ang kapit ng embrouchure mo, mas mahirap patunugin... at pag dumating ang mga oras na gamit mo na ang size 2 or 2 1/2 na mas magaan (na mas available sa mga market), mararamdaman mo ang gaan ng pag ihip and sometimes it cause mga piyok..and kagaya ng sinabi ko... mas available sa market ang mga reed na 2 and 2 1/2.. moreover, according to the experts.. if you are a softplayer and a begginer ideal ang gumamit ng mga ganung size na reed...you can ask some of the sax soc player..

I suggest you visit this website: saxontheweb.net

Napakaraming discussions there sa pag-gamit ng hard reeds for or against. The bottom line, however is where you are comfortable; using a hard reed is not a must even for professional sax players. Anyway, my take is that reed strength in not the only factor that should be considered: what about the tip opening of the mouthpiece.

...what about the tip opening of the mouthpiece.

I'm still in a hunt for a darker mpc, kaya naisipan kong mag-inquire from a well known online sax dealer.  Here is the email response for the tip opening:

"Hello Allan,

The difference on the 8L and 7L is really more of a physical comfort rather than a difference in tone.  Kind of like shoe size...you won't run any faster with a different size, it is really just a comfort issue.  If you get too large of a tip opening, then you will tire easily when playing.  If you get too small of an opening then the reed will close up on you while you are playing.  You can also adjust the strength of the reed to compensate for the tip opening.

Beginner pa din ako gaya mo and there are more things to learn.   :-)

GO!

Don't be afraid to go out from your comfort zone, life is too short and sax should be enjoyed freely ...  :-)

I've tried Vandoren 2 1/2, mas matigas sya kesa sa 2 1/2 ng other brands...

eto comparison chart -
