hand hammering a cymbal
« on: January 23, 2008, 10:14:01 AM »
katuwaan lang

lesson learned: i think now i understand why people covet well-played vintage cymbals. the sound of a cymbal does open up after continuous beatings and i've got the proof to back it up hehehe

well the operative word is "well-played", i think a vintage cymbal that was stored and never used will still sound like crap  :-P

im going to bring out my sabians and play them everyday from now on.

next experiment, maybe i'll try burrying the cymbal for 1 month to try and make it darker.

salamat po sa pagsilip

well yes kahit sa anong cymbal pwede pero i doubt na gumanda tunog nun. dinig naman sa clip na pangit talaga yung original na tunog nung cymbal at pagkatapos nung procedure e pangit pa rin hehehe

yung sabian b8 masarap siguro pag tripan yun. makapal e. maraming pwedeng gawin  :-D

Dude, diba hindi kasi gaanong advisable na maghammer ng B8 alloy?  Especially yung mga hindi cast-bronze?

hmmm not really, dumadaan din sa hammering yung mga sheet bronze or b8 kahit papano. wala lang "love" na binigay masyado ang zildjian at sabian sa b8 kaya pangit ang tunog nila. paiste cymbals are mostly b8 and we all know how they sound like.
