2 HDs? both internal or 1 of each?

So do you think 1 HD of MAC OS and 1 HD of Windows is recommendable?

They say you also need a Windows installer to perform this.

Here are pointers:
1. About fonts, yes, you need to install them sa Windows OS.
2. You need the Windows Pro SP2 installer CD.
3. Kung maglalaro ka ng games, better use Bootcamp instead of Parallels. And Bootcamp kasi talagang considered as 2nd partition ang Windows mo, pag Parallels, within OSX sha nagra-run. So mejo mabagal depende sa specs mo.

may question ako..diba wala daw pong viruses ang mac? pano po kapag gumamit ng bootcamp or parallels? may risk po talagang magkavirus yung mac? thanks  :-)

first of, mac is NOT really immune from viruses. reason why mac does not have viruses because virus makers will not think of making a virus sa mac. why? they will not benefit because people use windows rather than mac.

madali lang gumamit ng bootcamp. may instructions naman yan kung panu gamitin.

sa mga balak bumili ng mac ngaun. now is the right time to buy. GOD mga generations ngaun doble ng specs ko. at ang list price nila ngaun is pareho ng price nung binili ko mac ko. kasi feeling ko tlga they always sell new models e. ang alam ko rin mawawala na ang white color ng mac ngaun. silver na ata. same as with the macbook pro.

what i meant was no viruses sa mac os...but thanks anyway.. :-) and yes, i'm getting a macbook pro. it's just that medyo nagdadalawang isip ako kung gagamit ako ng bootcamp or parallels. i know it's easy to use, but i guess it might make my mac hardware prone to viruses. although i've heard that parallels don't transfer viruses to the mac os/hardware since it's just a visualization program. still not sure though.  :-)

what are the advantages of the macbook pro besides the higher processor and memory against the ordinary one?

Bro, it all boils down to the mac hardware. A MBP's hardware, specifically the graphics card, is better equipped for video editing (and graphics processing in general) than a Macbook. Parang iBook vs. Powerbook yun. Mas high-end ang graphics card and firewire ports ng MBP.

If you have a Macbook, ok ang Final Cut Express sa factory specs niya but medyo mabagal na kung Final Cut Pro. Lalo na kung lalagyan mo pa ng Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe After Effects.

All in all, a Macbook Pro is really a must-have in portable graphics design and Video Editing needs. :)

parang di ata swak yung final cut pro sa macbook. tried intalling one on my MB C2D months ago.......ksi nga siguro sa graphics card.. i think macs really fit the needs of graphic artists, art directors, photographer etc. and IMO, yung mga intel-based macs lang ang pwedeng gamitan ng bootcamp. di ko rin sure kung gagana ang OSX sa PC system. hehe.

they say best daw sa intel macs ang CS3. walang errors like the CS2 wherein kapag magkakasabay nakabukas ang InDesign, Photoshop at Illustrator, mag-eerror yung isa dun at mag qui-quit.

Yeah, but I haven't tried it yet. Ynzal has kingston RAMs i think. :) I guess it's ok to try it out. I need to upgrade my RAM too. I might try it.  :-)

Your Mac OS will not be affected by Windows viruses but like all pesky malware, if these replicate within your Windows partition, it will take up precious space. The Mac OS (e.g. OS X, whether Tiger or Leopard) will still function as is. What was meant to wreak havoc in Windows stays in Windows.

Hmm, "ordinary one"? I'd like to think all Macs, even the old ones, are special. :)

A-boi, looks like the MBP will suit your needs just fine. Otherwise, just upgrade the RAM and/or HD of the MB. But you know what, even a maxed-out, first-owned PowerBook will handle you needs without sweat. :)

Intel Macs can take Kingston, Transcend, Micron and other branded RAMs that are DDR2 SDRAM 667 (MBP, MB). HTH.

Most welcome, a-boi :)

You can get RAM from almost any computer store in malls, or online at tipidpc.com, for instance. The price for these have dropped significantly already, about P1,400-P1,800 for a 1gb stick.
HTH>Hope this helps.

Won't that void the warranty if it is not Apple approved?

Hi KitC,
I suppose if one does not mess up the portable bigtime by changing the RAM module, it won't. Otherwise, the upgrade can always be done by a certified Apple Service Center.

My unit came with Micron (have upgraded capacity using Kingston). 'Approval by Apple', I'd say, is a relative issue, i.e. Micron is its designated supplier, but since it is one of the upgradeable parts, there's really nothing Apple can do about it, imo. Should there  be mishandling in upgrade as performed by a 'non-Apple certified' person or company, then any effect to the main components will not be covered by AppleCare.

:)

Thanks for the info, kaffee.

Pretty hard to mess up a ram upgrade unless one is a luddite, I guess. Considering Apple's pricing for ram upgrades, I can completely understand why users would want to purchase off-the-shelf parts. Apple's pricing for a 4 gig upgrade is horrendous, IMO, if you compare this to this for example.
