Title: What sticks to use to make drum kit volume a lot softer? (and where to buy?)
Post by: Ninjek on September 30, 2015, 01:45:17 PM
Hi!

I just wanted to ask kung anong sticks ang pwedeng gamitin para hindi masyado malakas ang sound ng drums? We usually play in a quiet bar kasi, so hindi masyado maganda kung sobrang lakas ng drums. I don't want to compromise naman yung timing nung drummer by asking him to tone down lang. Baka it's a matter of switching sticks lang naman eh. I tried researching, and ang recommended ay yung Promark HotRods or Broomsticks. Has anyone used these?

Any other suggestions?

And if anyone could tell me where I can buy Promark's hotrods or broomsticks for drums, please let me know rin! And kung alam nyo yung price

Thanks!

Ok yung hotrods...iba syempre feel pero closer to actual drumsticks than brushes. Yung broomsticks mukang masmahina at iba yung feel

Rods or brushes are quieter pero they might prompt you to rearrange your songs. Sticks are fine. Practice lang yun for the drummer. Magpractice kayo ng mahinang volume during rehearsals. It will also help the drummer if he uses thinner sticks.

iba yung feel ng rods eh. but yes, it's definitely makes softer sounds than regular sticks. make your drummer try jazz sized sticks, though depende sa drummer kung tama technique nya minimal difference lang din yun (mas malakas ang volume ko sa jazz sticks for example, kasi mas malapit sa fulcrum yung grip ko).

Try the Vic Firth nylon version of the rods, since plastic sya mas matibay sya and its great for first time users.

Taasan. Ibig sabihin kung san mo siya normally hinahawakan taasan mo pa, like paikliin mo stick, Mas less yung power nun kaya sa dynamics mas mahina
