TDK! sirain para sakin skullcandy eh, random yung unang bibigay, yung finish or yung cable. yung TDK mura lang tsaka sakto lang yung sound, tumagal sakin ng two years yung TDK na earbuds ko for daily commute tapos wala pang tamang alaga. pag cans yan baka mas matibay ng konti, ok naman yung plastic nila  :)

this is what gave me the impression that it might not make a difference aurally for headphones, kasi yung subs sa sine malaki ang power atang laki nun. tama si j.nikko, percieving is different from hearing.

Just buy in ears with a good fit. they isolate noise substantially. If you want cans, pick ones with noise canceling features (active, usually battery powered) but those are more expensive. There are some closed back headphones that do an okay job with noise isolation.

Musicians use ear plugs when using wedge monitors or no monitors at all. If they use in ear monitors, then that's all they need as it also provides noise isolation.

the goal of practicing guitar with headphones is to enable you to practice without disturbing people. if it's not that, then you should ideally always use your amp.

I once tried practicing with our band using ear muffs, I wanted to "kill" some of the noise kasi maliit yung practice space. In the end, nahirapan ako - the muffs also killed most of the sound we make, only some bass notes and drum parts pass through as vibration though my body, not the sound. medyo nahilo din ako being unable to hear the stuff, I don't know why.

In any event, in-ear / headphone monitors are a good idea if you can afford them.

Shameless plug dahil sobrang happy talaga ako sa nabili ko at hindi ko talaga tatantanan:

Mack's Hear Plugs. Great for listening to gigs, concerts, and when performing on stage with wedges or during practice.
It will sound like you mic'd up everything you hear with SM57s then turned the volume down.
I use it for drum practice and I swear it sounds great!

Try Bose In-Ear Phone, or kung may budget, yung may noise cancelling na headphone from bose. Napakaquality ng tone nya at kahit super lakas, hindi nababasag ang tunog. Maeenjoy mo yung music mo at hindi mo na maririnig yung ingay ng aircon..

Check out the following brands:
- Sennheiser
- Sony
- Bose
- Marshall
- and others

Usually may kanya kanyang timpla yung headphones (bassy, high mids, etc), so review mo nalang. If you want balanced ones, check mo yung mga studio type (gamit ng DJ's).

You can get a good one around 1k to 4k range sa mga stores. Sa lazada, pwede mo check yung usual SRP for each (nagkakatalo nalang sa discounts ng stores). If you want to go for high end models, mas mahal syempre.

Priority ko to protect my ears, na-abuse ko yata, kaya maingat ako ngayon.
Having said that, closed head phone ba dapat ako? That Sony MDR 7506 looks good.. nasa 4k ba ito? (hmmm, nag-iipon ako ng pambili ng guitar amp.....)

Saan ba kayo bumibili?

And meron ba store saaten kung saan pwede ko ma test-drive bago bumili? Parang may nabasa ako, meron sa megamall. Egghead meron sa rob galleria?

Edit: ok, will check lazada

Edit2: wala yung Sony MDR V6 or 7506 sa lazada?

i have a pair of P20,000 Shure earphones. its good but honestly, i opine a mid level headphone will beat it or at least be at par with it, sound quality wise. at the amount i paid for the earphones, i could have gotten a good pair of headphones. ....but i was avoiding the bulkiness.

a good modern earphone will block majority of the outside sound because of the seal even without noise cancelling ability. having the NC will boost it abit.

however, noise canceling phones will not block out everything. I've tried the top of the line Bose Noise Cancelling headphones. the sound quality is really good, but while inside the room, i could still hear the sounds from the street. nothing can be totally blocked. i think pwede naman bawiin sa "volume" but im not going to go that way again. id rather hear a bit of the street sounds that have ear damage in the long run. (not gona go there again. masaya na ako at i recovered.) but after testing the bose, i opine its worth having. ayaw ko lang na malaki at may cable. lol sana ma improve pa performance ng wireless.

noise cancelling can only cancel out repetitive sounds kaya it works well with the hum inside an airplane.  it might work for the aircon but you might still hear a bit of hum when the thermostat allows the AC to "rev" up.

that part. the more "white noise"-like the noise is, the better the performance. that's what noise canceling headphones are made for.  kung mga ingay ng kalye ang gusto mo matanggal, just invest in in ears or cans that have a good seal.

There are also some over the ear headphones that provides good seal against external sound
