what kind of theme/genre of modelling are you more inclined to? tanks/afvs? ships? airplanes or fantasy? then what era? ww1? ww2? vietnam? korea? modern? it is good if you can narrow down the things that you prefer so that you will be more inspired in your build thus resulting in better results.

There are days when I think I should have taken on tanks and cars simply because they take up a LOT less shelf space. Then my eye sees my mighty 1/48 B-1B, then all is good in the world again.  :-D

@KitC: i guess most scale modelers are guilty of that. i also wished i should have not bought these 1/350 scale battleships.  :-D

@ralph petrucci: start first with 1/24 scale model cars. buy the tamiya brand because they are known for their good fit. easier for beginners. about galleon ship models, i think they cater more on the advance modelers. putting up the riggings and sails is enough to give you grey hair. lol. but there are basic kits also. try checking the revell brand. they offer some good kits on galleons and old ships.

I remember my brother having an old USS Constitution kit where he had to 'weave' the ratlines for the main masts. All possible boy scout knots were used, and then some!

Can it be used for large scale painting like for example... motorcycle flarings?

Do you know of a shop that specializes in compressors for air brush kits? :)

Thank bro!

I'm from Cebu bro. I do not know any shop that sells small air compressors in Metro Manila.

I do not recommend small compressors for mc fairing painting works.

I'll try to post pics. The problem with having 100+ unbuilt kits is that they all call out for your attention and you only have so much time, not to mention my significant other who needs my driving skills every weekend... hay, the pitfalls of shopping!

Good thing I loaded the ipad with lots of pdfs on various walkarounds and aerofax titles. As long as the stores she walks into have a couch, I'm golden. Shopping also gives me a chance to visit my happy place, like Lil's in Trinoma. At least I get to stock up on paints. The quest for the best metallic paint still eludes me... no one sells Alclad locally anymore.

I'm also experimenting with Kosutte Ginsan on a TIE Interceptor that I'm doing on the side. I coated the
'solar panels' with black ink from a felt tech pen, then coated it with Kosutte. I decided against using black paint so I don't obscure the detail in the panels. Next, I'm going to overspray that with Tamiya Smoke and hope it holds; Maybe coat the panels with Future afterwards. I'm trying to get that black sort of metallic sheen that you often see in solar panels. If it works, I'll post pics of that too, and use the same on Darth's TIE fighter also.

Just awesome.. Thanks for sharing those pics..I will try to get similar system very soon.

yes. the 1/8 hp compressors. then tamiya double action airbrush.

I have the trigger action HG which apparently is manufactured by Iwata for Tamiya so those are very good airburshes. The thing about standalone compressors is to watch out for water condensation in the hose. You might want to budget for a water trap.

yep. tamiya airbrusher are basically iwatas with a "tamiya" badge. they are very durable and performs superbly. yeah, i installed a water+dust trap on all my compressors. and the ones i have features an auto shut off/pressure switch.
