Anti-virus for internet users.
« on: December 22, 2006, 02:15:21 PM »
Ano bang magandang Anti-virus para sa mga madalas mag-surf sa internet?

Ryt now, i'm using mc affee v.2007.   Pero nababagalan ako sa scanning nya.

And then after mga 3days nagkakaroon ako ng mga cookies.
Time is short, let's play music as long as possible.

Doesn't it strike you as ironic that you would have to get anti-virus software from a hacker, when there are loads of free software based on some very good engines?

For example, I'm using AOL's free Active Virus Shield which is based on the Kapersky antivirus engine, voted the best antivirus software overall. Another is Antivir Personal Edition which uses a heuristic scanning engine. Even Ewido has a free 30-day trial of their software that has no restrictions. IMO, these are far safer than getting compromised code from a crack site.

First of all I'm not your "BRO"....  Second, before you pass judgement in saying that I am posting "cracked software".  DON'T BE IGNORANT or STUPID.  Those aren't cracked/hacked/phishing/infected softwares.  They are legitimate software/application.   Again, they are free and before you open your PIE HOLE make sure with what you say, you think you're righteous...  in the most absurd way.  YES YOU ARE IRONIC for someone who has some experience with forums.......   Amazing, a BOARD MODERATOR and a FORUM FANATIC can come up with that conclusion without even doing some leg work.....
Noobs...they're everywhere....  er... uh ... DUH?!!

I haven't used filehippo in a loooonnnggg time... I see they've cleaned up their act (or maybe it's a similarly named site). Too many to remember....

It's the word "Code" in your post that triggered the response. Tread lightly before you call someone a noob.

AVG and AVG alone is the best antivirus. And it's free. Nothing can beat free.

With all due respect Moderator, the reason being for using codes instead of live links is that it makes it a lot safer for the reader to first check if the link is legit or not.  Meaning u can do some leg work using your preferred search engine before you actually follow the link.
There are people that will post a link and cause an unwary reader a lot of headaches like links to websites that contain scripts that will install a worm, trojan or even a hook application or maybe be a playful website that will not really harm your PC but reboot your modem from remote and have your MAC address blocked for a specific amount of time.   That's why most forums will not allow a member to post live links unless screened by a MOD.

Regarding Jepoy's side comment....

Noted, vladisvastard. I guess mine was mostly a knee-jerk reaction. NP.

@kaloyster - did AVG and NOD32 before moving to AOL AVS, it's a personal opinion, but I like AOL's better... uses less resources (and it's based on Kaspersky).

Of all the anti-viruses I've tried (Norton, McAfee, AVAST, AVG, F-Prot, etc.), there's only one that I still stick with -- NOD32.

Amazing heuristics algorithm (good detection), and my favorite part: scans all my harddisks real fast (I have multiple harddisks the size of volcanos).

For me, prevention is still better than any cure.

AVG rocks, for something that's free it's really in a league of it's own. Although it has some limitations, the ordinary PC user will find the basic features of AVG more than adequate to ward of any serious virus infection.
