yung WEP connection sisiw yun ma-hack... but that was some 5 years ago.. not really sure... pero karamihan ng w-router ngayon WPA na ang ginagamit.. yung iba nga WPA2 na... wala pang nakakahack ng WPA sa level natin... maliban dun sa mga ultraelectromagnetic geeks na talagang pinuwersa yung WPA... alam ko nagawa na nila pero dugo- at pawis ang kapalit...  :-D

yup. yung WEP mahigit na ngang 5 years nang magka-flaw yung algo nya. hex kasi. di katulad ng WPA TKIP or Radius, at WPA2 na hindi mo basta-basta mabu-brute dahil almost infinite yung combinations. pero the best way to secure your wireless network is to use MAC filtering - ibig sabihin ang allowed lang na maka-access sa router mo (wired/wireless) ay yung mga MAC addresses na nasa router config mo.

pero may mga na-test akong cisco routers dati (dito sa work), na nagre-reset kapag may power surge. so na-figure out ko na kung malapit ka lang sa gusto mong i-hack, just figure out kung paano magkaka-power surge yung router or access point na yon. pag na-reset yun, ultimo WEP tanggal yun - balik lahat sa default.

^pre, walang problema sa net kahit san meron. actually, hindi yon ang pinupuntirya ng mga hackers. kung nakapasok na halimbawa ako sa wireless network mo on the same ip segment and subnet, marami na akong pwedeng gawin. very basic - kung hindi mo pinalitan yung "WORKGROUP" na default workgroup name ng PC mo, yari ka na nyan saken.  :-D

bukod pa dun yung backdoor, brute at mga keyloggers. naku! pataykambataka.

so always remember to keep your network secured. ako net ko sa bahay naka double NAT, tapos bogus na IP yung 2nd NAT layer ko. try to get rid of the typical 192.168... default LAN IP.

if you do credit card or banking transactions online, then you'd know what i'm talking about.

^hehehe...
pero honestly guys hindi nakakatawa yan lalo na kapag nakuha yung credit card info mo, tapos ipinambili ng sampung 20k rapids worth 200 euros each; or inubos lahat ng credit limit ng platinum card mo para ipang-laro sa online casino - lahat ng yan dahil hindi secured ang wifi mo. maniwala kayo sa aken. for years working with these equipment, i've seen how vulnerable it is. and it's really not about free internet access.  :-D

^not absolutely. one can be MORE or LESS safer, but not safe or unsafe per se.
WPA is better than WEP, and therefore safer. a double NAT home network is better than a PC-to-modem direct connection, and therefore safer. etc.. etc..
the more you eliminate your network's vulnerability from attacks, the safer your data/information gets.
