the only thing I don't like in boss Koko, and this is just me....mejo nayayabangan ako. Seen him twice play with Cynthia. Cynthia gave a solo spot to the tabla player and Koko barged in after only a few bars. And he keeps standing up to bow. He even praises himself. I could hear him brag about his drumming to Cynthia cause I was in front for twice their show and for both sets.

He is good don't get me wrong. Andi I put him amongst my top 5 best drummers in RP. But, I like Zach with Cynthia better. Mas laid back.

Other than that, whew, bow down ako.

Yeah, Koko is quite a proud man. I notice that too. But let's face it... May Karapatan talaga siya magyabang (yes, that's a capital 'K'). Jedi Master yang si Koko. Kaya, let's just sit down and enjoy Koko's amazing music and artistry.

I can't think of a better drummer in fusion than Koko.

I like him more than the great JR and Mar.

yes i agree!

my piece of mind: i personally dont think he's mayabang, but he is assertive and outspoken and a person with a very high self-esteem...not shy to share his thoughts or speak his mind nor show his skills and tell you anything and everything he knows or believes in, it could be painful or offensive, but sometimes thats the price you get for honesty or sincerity. and sometimes we filipinos tend to see this strong character as kayabangan, which is unfair. but see, we cant confuse high self esteem and assertiveness with kayabangan. Koko is by far a musical genius and there is no need to get emotional about it.

+1. Agree 100%. One of these days hanapin ko kung san sya tumutugtog at manuod uli and be inspired! That cat has so much fire in his playing.

Well-said! That's true. I'm privileged to meet and know Koko, and yes, ganun nga siya. He's exceptionally great in what he does, he knows his stuff, at buong buo ang loob niya. The man is indeed a genius. You cannot fool the guy. Idol yan. Aprub!

isn't anybody gonna mention roy mercado? ace session drummer yan, and most probably the mostin-demand right now, both in concerts and recordings. his playing is far from flashy, but his sense of groove is impeccable. you hear his playing every sundays at ASAP, and pinoy idol, and several high profile concerts...

he's the brother of ric mercado, who is also among the best session-guitarists in this country today, and the owner of that sweet-sounding $5K taylor guitar...

no relation to vic, as far as i know.

Im not a psychophant here,mga pare; pero the best drummers for me are those who are actively engaged in the promotion of the Art of Drumming and Brotherhood among Drummers. Walang iba kundi sina JP Buduan, Anthony Dio at Peeves. Kung wala ang mga yan, tagahanga na lang siguro ang marami sa atin dito.

Hmmmmm..... Meron pa bang ibang grupo ng drummers sa Pinas na bukod sa araw araw nag f-forum eh nagkikita-kita once a month? Libre tips, lesson at asaran?!?

...Kaya IKAW na laging nakatambay dito sa Pinoydrums ay isa din sa mga da best!
