new hihat toy - gibraltar hot hat
« Reply #27 on: December 28, 2006, 01:13:06 PM »
id love to get me one of these:

"Gibraltar’s Hi Hat Off Time attachment adds an additional layer of rhythm to your sound. When attached to an existing hi hat stand along with a second set of hi hats, a ‘chick’ sound is created on the off beat, keeping time with your hi hat foot. The HHOT fills out your sound for all styles and grooves.

Each HHOT features an instructional DVD produced by HHOT inventor Stephen Marnell. The DVD includes set up and playing instructions and groove examples for all styles of music.

SC-HHOT Hi Hat Off Time Attachment Retail: $92.50 "

That's a nifty invention.  And we can play the Off Time Hi-Hats with both left foot and our sticks.

I hope it can fit on virtually ALL brands and styles of hi-hat stands.  And another possible limitation is, how can this be fitted on a drum set-up with stuff mounted on the left side of the hi-hat (ex. - second snare drum, left-side tom, timbale, etc.)?  Better move the left-side percs, if ever.

It would also be cool if there's an on/off control or level or knob, so that we can choose when and when not to use the Off Time Hats.

Hehe sorry... My designer mentality is up and running again.  :-D

Ok yan ah!

Makes sense diba!? :-D
So Be It.

Doupeds yan diba? Hm, pwede na. Brand new is around 8k before discounts. If it's in good condition, then it's a good buy. I have the single Prowler pedal myself, and it's really not that bad. Solid footboard, metal base plate, and dual-sided beater. The only problem I have with it is the lack of adjustment possibilities.

I agree. If your gonna splurge out that money on Doupeds that isn't Lazer or Generic, at least get one that isn't single-chain. Maybe you can wait around for a second hand Avenger, or save up.

Double-chain = Added stability, more responsive, solid feel. Plus the footboard might not wobble as much.

The pedal I own is a single, and it's got.. what.. a lighter feel?  :-D

but double chains will wobble like a single chain too. the hinge is the problem not the chain

single chain lang din lahat ng naging pedals ko, nakagamit na ko ng ilang double chain and i dont feel any difference kaya na curious lang ako

Whoo! 1,600th post si sir peeves! Hehe. Even single-chain Pearls and Gibraltars have high-quality hinges and springs. But I used this single-chain Fernando on a bar gig, and the footboard wobbled from side to side. Really bad since my toe tends to wander around the footboard. Generic double-chains feel better (still not by much though).

In conclusion, I'd like to say that... most branded single-chain peds are solid enough anyway. :-D
