New Photography GAS object!!!
« on: September 02, 2006, 12:48:36 PM »
I've owned a Canon Eos 300D for 3 years now... I probably can't afford a Canon 30D ... but now they came out with the 400D! I can probably afford this. 10.10 megapixels, 2.5 inch LCD, Self-cleaning sensor. Affordable price.  PHOTO GAS!!!!!!!

The new Canon Digital Rebel XTi boasts a number of enhancements relative to the previous Rebel XT model, and the 10.1 megapixel sensor is arguably one of the least significant.     * Continuous shooting at 3 frames per second, buffer depth of 27 JPEG Large/Fine or 10 RAW frames
    * New folder management with manual folder creation and up to 9,999 images per folder
    * Picture Style settings (same options as on EOS-30D)
    * 9-point autofocus unit with high-precision f/2.8 support (same as on EOS-30D)
    * Selectable AF modes
    * Selectable AF points
    * 3 settings for long exposure noise reduction, including auto
    * Faster image processing
    * Improved Print/Share functions

Yupp, I might try to look at and possibly grab one in the States this October. Right now, I'm just using a Panasonic DMC FX-7 and maybe its
time to move to this level.

I will bring my Film SLR EOS 500N and might as well fit its EF 17-85mm
Zoom Lens to the Xti body. Doing this would only cost me $799.00 (body only). Incidentally the $799 (body only) of the 350D Rebel XT model will be reduced to $699 due to the entrant of this higher breed in the market as i have found from articles. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Happy clicking.  :D

Well I'm glad the Canon 400D takes CF cards instead of SD. CF is easy to find, sturdy, available in higher capacities (up to 8 GB) - and I own around 4 CF cards already!!!  :-D

Been using 350 D for more than a year now. So far no major complaints about the performance. It's just eh handling that quite bothers me. Buying the vertical control grip solved the problem a little.

In my opinion, it's not worth upgrading from 350D to 400D. It's just 2Mp more and a bigger LCD. Unless you've got the money to spend. Otherwise, I'll just spend my money on other photography stuff like flashguns, Lens?, filters?, Studio lights... etc.

I'll be upgrading next year to EOS 1 MarkIIN HOPEFULLY. Its 8.2Mp, just .2mp more than my current 350D but its built to last and survive which is more important to me than pixels. My main forte is Events/Sports Photography naman so I won't be needing extra pixels. I need speed more than anything else.

Anyway, Canon 400D is a great a camera! :) You can never go wrong with this. And yes, I've been using Canon Since 1997! Almost 10years na!:)

Nothing wrong with that - just that I've too much invested in Canon lenses to use a Nikon body.

The GAS object at the moment is a Canon 30D body. Evaluated this against a 400D and I think I would rather spend the P20K or so for the "real thing". Coming soon to my camera bag I hope!

Magkano po ba yung 18-200mm na VR and yung non VR. And ok din ba yung Sigma na lense? I heard na ok din daw sya pang substitute sa Nikkor Lens. What do you think?

The VR stands for Vibration Reduction. Same as IS (Image Stabilizer) ng Canon. Sigma naman has OS (Optical Stabilization). Sigma lenses are ok. Pero a lot of Nikon purists downgrade them. They say, Nikon Cameras work best with Nikkor lenses. I myself have a couple of Sigma lenses and they work fine for me... The only Nikkor lens I have is the 50mm 1.8 prime, which many have...

The 18-200mm VR costs around 40k in Hidalgo. Wala atang non VR na 18-200mm Nikkor... Pero meron 18-200mm yung Sigma which costs around 19k. Sigma. An OS version of the Sigma 18-200mm might be coming out soon...

Thanks a lot! :-D

I don't think the Sigma 18-200mm would autofocus with the D40... It would work... pero manual focus lang... Nga pala... here's a difference... Aside from the VR, the Sigma's largest opening at 200mm is f/6.3... Yung Nikkor 18-200mm is f/5.6...may VR pa...
